product is strong, comes with base tray, individual planter tray and then lid. lid comes with attachable vents. the size is good bc it isnt too large where you have trouble carrying the full tray. i look forward to my seed starter experience!

I love the vented tops. The plastic is not rigid but sturdy enough that it is holding up to being moved around (and I stack them at night due to space). The lids are designed to sit gently on top not to click in place; this is by design. The last thing you want is to try and pry a lid off and risk disturbing the soil/seeds so it is nice that the lids don't grab. The lids help maintain humidity, warmth, and air control. I also appreciate that it comes with the solid bottom watering trays- great for catching drips. I used a silver marker to write the plant type and sow date directly on the edges of the tray. I bought the 5 pack and planted multiple vegetable seeds on 01/22/23; As of 02/05/2023 I already have kale (2 types), spinach, lettuce (several varieties), cauliflower, and lavender sprouted! Initially I kept these in the garage and put them out in the sun during the day (in the 40's). I'm in zone 8. However, we just got through several days of an ice storm. I moved the seed trays inside and used an old tube light on them (it wasn't a grow light but enough to keep them doing well for 3 days). I was able to move the trays back outside in the sun today (tops off); they will go back in the garage tonight since temps are back in 40's (with tops on). I did not use heat pads rather I used warm (not hot) water to spray my seeds when watering. Do some youtube videos on how to use seed trays/covers and start seeds- glad I did. I would def. buy these again. FYI, I have 2 different types of trays you see in my pics the smaller ones do not have vents and I don't like that (got them elsewhere). You do not see the vented dome on my trays outside (the large ones) because the seeds are all sprouted and the tops need to be off because they need the sun now. These seed starter kits are sturdy. I like that the dome has vents that you can either have open or closed....however the condensation buildup inside the dome drips all over the place. I use these indoors and had to put mats underneath the trays so the water wouldn't drip on my hardwood floors. The design of the trays and dome need some rework -the dome should sit inside the tray, not hang over the edge like they do now. Also the germination trays do not seem to really be designed for these trays as they don't fit exact. Overall they are working fine but the condensation drips are what brings the rating down. ... show more

I have to say I am impressed with these trays! All parts of these trays are well constructed, the cells, the trays & the dome! The domes have a nice little vent that can be closed and opened to control the humidity. These trays are nice enough that I believe I will get several years of use from them. ... show more
