I have used nails, picks, tees, wire wheels attached to my drill and such over the years. I researched this item read the comments on how it might be illegal. I could see if you took the time and really tried to sharpen it to the point that you changed the face of the club, then I would say you have way to much time on your hands. I play mainly in central Florida and I have issues with muck and sand getting in to the grove. I have had times when I have had to PLAY it where it lays and a small stone has caused one of the groves to become jagged this has been a pet peeve of mine, do I take a stroke or play it. This tool has restored my groves back to the original manufacturers spec which is great. I did a "trusty rusty" for a golfing buddy and he was impressed, he texted me later that night wanted to know where to buy it. This is something I do at home not on the course it takes to much time and a brush works fine on gameday. When I used it the first time I did all of the clubs( I was socked at what came out of my driver and fairway wood) I could see having to replacing it couple of times a year due to wear. I assume some of the reviews were jokes? If you twist it counter-clockwise (to the left), you can unscrew the groove cleaner bit. The cap just slides off when you twist it to the right. Bit doesn't seem like it will last forever, but this is a $5 tool.

I have a set of Titleist clubs and after using this gently there like brand new. I can’t stress this enough please use it gentle it is very sharp and you will ruin your clubs if you don’t use it properly

I thought I was doing something wrong to create back spin, but was able to generate great back spin after sharpening the face of irons. You must be careful how you operate the pull or push as you can easily cut your fingers

I have an old wedge that was help with the ball checking up on greens. I got this groove sharpening tool and it really worked. I can even get the cheap non spin balls to check up now. Good tool. I highly recommend it.

I bought one of these last year and it's a handy little tool to carry in the bag. So I bought another one to give as a gift. Sure you could keep cleaning you grooves with a wood golf tee, but this will do it better AND it will knock down those little nicks and cuts made from rocks, roots etc. Ya can't put good backspin on the ball without clean grooves. ... show more
