I went for the standard 5-6 inch bed riser as recommend for my GERD experience in the last month. This helped my reflux manage over time, and eventually, it stopped irritating my throat. This was really good and useful for its value. The best part is that it's adjustable with height so you can add more inches. It comes with 4 extra add-ons for height adjustment. The color didn't bother me because it just blended in with my bed frame. It was quite convenient to carry around because it was light, but was very sturdy on a thick wooden frame and a twin xL bed.

I started waking up with a sore throat but not the kind you get from a cold. This was on the right side of my throat. Long story short, it's from stomach acid seeping into my throat while sleeping. At my age (74) things wear out, including the valve that stops stomach acid from doing this. I sleep on my right side (hence the right side of my throat burning), so I needed to incline the whole bed, and these do that. I have a heavy sleep-number bed so I needed my floor car jack to lift one side at a time. I used some large washers to give me a precise distribution of weight between the head and middle blocks. I have the largest block at the head and 3 of the smaller blocks stacked for the middle posts. The foot of the bed has one of those carpet slider pads for moving the bed. An obvious problem doing this, is to keep the top mattress from slowly sliding down the incline. I ordered a headboard/footboard frame that will enclose my bed. It will simply fit right over the sleep-number bed without even having to attach it. The footboard is around 32" high, so this will keep the mattress in place. I don't have to incline the new bed frame at all, only the sleep-number bed frame. (This new frame is what's known as a "sleigh" design. They have the high footboard that I need.)
