  • Bit of a chore to set up, but it's working fine with a 300w hub motor
Color: 36v/48v 350w
I currently have this connected to a 36V 300W hub motor that you can find on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CCP9CZQ6 The combination is oddly fast. As in, it will outrun my 48V 500W $800 Gotrax Ultra. It'll go about 24mph, while my Gotrax maxes out at 20mph. It even accelerates faster than it. I built a rather silly this system for the batteries on the scooter with this on it. It's 3 20V max Dewalt batteries. They put out plenty of amperage and actually seem to last a decent amount of time. Also, when they run out, I just swap in three fresh batteries and off I go again. Thus far, I've had zero problems. It is a bit weird to set up. It does test the motor you hook up to it to see how many magnets and such it has. You'll see it jerk back and forth as it's doing that. You do have to set the tire diameter to get the speedometer to work, obviously. I'm not sure how reliable the battery meter is, but that's not a big deal when my batteries have their own meters and I have three more in a backpack. The speedometer is fairly accurate when you dial it in correctly. You can always use your phone and a GPS speedometer app to fiddle with it if you want it fairly exact. I have had absolutely no functionality problems with it just yet. I guess others have had problems, but I either got a good one or I just set it up correctly. The other possibility is that it doesn't like being maxed out and is happier with 300w. ... show more

  • Perfect kit for home built Go-Carts
Color: 36v/48v 350w
I recently fabricated a chassis for a homemade go-cart that I was planning on putting a 2-stroke gas powered motor on but after watching some of these recent videos of electric bikes, I changed my plans. Brushless tech has rivaled, if not surpassed combustion capabilities, especially in the torque department. I'm not finished yet but I've built a 108 cell 36v pack of 21700 li-ion batteries. Lipo might have a higher discharge but li-ion is more stable, safer and easier to replace individual cells. I may add a separate pack in series, that can be removed or deleted but for increased power since this ESC is capable of 48v but I haven't figured it out yet. My motor is a generic 900w bike motor which I connected with a size 40 chain and sprocket but have yet to figure out my gearbox. I was going with a drivegate gearbox ran in reverse but at around 40lbs it's not my best idea. Everything is done except the driveshaft so I haven't been able to test the power yet but the esc has spun the motor up and runs very clean. There's a lot of options for monitoring and throttle control and I've got the display mounted in the rear. Hopefully I can figure out a way to monitor and control remotely but that might have to wait for a future project. This is a great entry into this hobby and so far with everything included with a lot of repurposed parts I'm under $500 in total. I'll update photos in the future which i hope to finish before spring arrives. My only complaint is the gage of the wires coming out of the ESC. At 48v, the power wires should be at least 12ga but hopefully I can keep the heat to a minimum. It does however seem to be the weakest point for failure. ... show more
