Love this twin trundle bed! Great instruction booklet and fairly easy to assemble. It is very sturdy, and the color is true to the picture. The trundle is easy slide and it is on carpet.. The bed was hard to put together because the directions were pictures only and no written instructions but after figuring it all out the bed is beautiful. I did order the 8" mattress for the trundle and I was able to fit it under the bed with a thin mattress pad on it but I don't think there is room for any other layers as that was tight. My grand children visited and loved the beds and slept well. What I liked is that this didn't ruin my furniture arrangement to accommodate two children. When they aren't here the bedroom is arranged normally and this bed was a nice upgrade. ... show more

Ordered this twin bed w/ trundle for a small bedroom. Here is a breakdown of my thoughts... EDIT in MAR 2021: So I tested positive for COVID-19. I did not want my wife to get infected, so I moved into this bedroom (which doubles as my work-from home-office) for 2 weeks. I have to say, this bed is very comfortable! I slept very well during the time that I was in there. And the wife did not get the 'Rona, so all good! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Quality of material: 4.5/5 stars - It's not hardwood, but I knew that when I purchased it. All the pieces were in good shape except for one small ding on the underside of one board. It's small and not going to be visible, so no big deal. We like the finish. It's a good color to match how we are going to finish the room. Sturdiness: 5/5 stars - I realized when putting this bed together that it is meant to stay together once assembled. For example: The sideboards are bolted into the headboard, not set down in a slot. Also, each slat the mattress sits on is secured with a screw at each end. This also applies to the center bar running the length of the bed. It will require some time to take apart if/when we move it out of the room. On the other hand, there is no rattle, and it feels quite solid to an adult average-sized male. I am happy to sacrifice some portability for sturdiness. Aesthetics: 4.5/5 stars - As I mentioned, we like the finish. I may end up staining the slats to match the rest of the finished wood. It will be less noticeable in the corners. Of course, putting bedding on will help, but I may do it anyway. If I do, I will update. Also, the visible part of the trundle bed when pushed in looks good in my opinion because it blends in well. Good design on that. Incidentally, the mattress in the picture is a Linenspa 8 Inch Memory Foam and Innerspring Hybrid-Mattress. The max mattress thickness for the trundle bed is 8", and I can tell you it just barely glides underneath. We also got the 10" version of the same thing for the top since it will get used more. Assembly & Instructions: 2/5 stars - Ok, the assembly itself is not too hard once you figure out the directions. But that is where the problem lies. The instructions suck. There are NO written steps, only pictures. And it is very difficult to determine which way some boards should face in relation to other pieces. Particularly when it come to the headboard and footboard. Also, the hardware diagram (with item #s) are not to scale, which would be ok IF the packaging for the hardware was labeled. Unfortunately, it is not. It's just a bunch of different-sized bolts, ends, screws, etc dumped into 2 different bags. I had to spend some time figuring out which screw was which before I got started. And even then, I had to be careful as I went along to make sure I was using the correct hardware for different steps. NOTE: The instructions call for using a screwdriver by hand. I used a cordless drill and was careful not to over-torque or over-tighten the screws. This sped up the process significantly. Conclusion: Despite the bad instructions, I like this bed/trundle combo. I would get it again if needed. As time goes on, I will updated this review to describe wear & tear if I feel it's necessary. 4/5 Stars. ... show more

Bought this as the next step up from the crib/toddler bed my son was using since he was born. Instructions were clear (I went slowly and paid attention to details like where the tiny pinholes to the second piece are facing) and easy to follow. Bed seems sturdy and it’s nice to have the trundle for those nights when he’s feeling ill and I like to hang out with him to be sure he’s doing good. Look great. I don’t have the noise problem that some others report. The trundle has a maximum capacity for a 8” mattress. I bought an 8” and it just fits with a fitted sheet. If you want to leave a comforter or pillow in there, buy a 6” mattress. I’ll update if anything changes. ... show more

This bed is solidly made and good quality. The instructions aren’t great, but I was able to put it together myself in under two hours with only two easily fixable mistakes (used the wrong screws for one part and had to redo, and almost put the footboard together with a piece upside down). The photos in the instructions are not great and the screws are not labeled and are all dumped together so if you’re not used to putting together furniture it might be a bit difficult at first. I used a drill for a few sections but I possibly could have gotten away with just the electric screwdriver. Overall it’s a great bed for the price. My only actual “issue” is that the support slats for the trundle do not screw in properly at the top and bottom. The middle slats are all fine, but the very top and bottom slat pilot holes are situated at a section of the side rail that has a gap so there’s nowhere for the screws to attach. I considered creating a pilot but the wood was splintering so I just left them unscrewed and will probably use adhesive instead. Since it’s only one slat on each end that isn’t secure it’s fine. I tried a thousand different ways to rotate, flip or shift the entire slat section to make it work but no go. Other than that it’s a great bed. ... show more

This bed is super nice & great quality. I love the color & the durability it provides. We got it for our 2.5 year old toddler transitioning to a full size bed. The assembly directions are a bit vague, took us about 3.5 hours to assemble. Shipping took about 2.5 weeks because there wasn’t a shipping center for this product close to us. The trundle bed has a very poor design for rolling in and out. The casters are so close to edge of slat and the wood has very little grain lines to make the wood stronger thus splits the frame slat. This bed has been slept in under a week and by a four year old under 40 pounds. Very unsatisfied. This board cannot be fixed and it a piece of the main frame. Just think how it would have handled a larger child. As a designer our motto was: “Safety first”. This design failed miserably as the caster should have been designed to attach to center of board so the caster couldn’t twist and brake a weak board. ... show more
