This was one of those tools I didn’t know I needed—until I absolutely did. I picked it up mostly for some experimental jewelry/artwork I’ve been dabbling in, but it got fast-tracked into action when I had to cut a padlock off a sagging gate during a replacement job. The lock was 15 years old, but despite some minimal rust, it was solid and twisted in between the wooden fencing and gate hardware at such a tight and weird angle, that bolt cutters wouldn't have worked even if we'd had them handy. —Enter this snazzy little cordless angle grinder from Novorik. Y’all, it ate through that lock like it had a grudge, and I looked like I belonged in a heist movie. It’s compact but not toy-like. Feels sturdy in the hand, surprisingly powerful, and best of all—cordless. I love a handheld tool that lets me roam freely without wrestling a cord like I’m trying to lasso a wild extension cable. It comes with a bunch of cutting discs, an extra battery, a fast charger, and even a tiny wrench and screwdriver so you can get started right out of the box. The rubber grip makes one-handed use easier than expected, and the whole thing feels thoughtfully built, especially for quick project bursts or awkward angles. I can see this becoming one of those tools I use in bursts—when inspiration strikes, or when something metal stubbornly stands in my way. As like many other people who work with power tools, I have at least one cordless angle grinder close by in either the shop or in a vehicle. This particular cordless angle grinder really hits a sweet spot as far as size, portability, and performance. Other than the "adjustable" deflector and a kinda flimsy carrying case this is really a great product. The first thing I want to mention that is really important for me is that this works with Makita BL 18v Lithium ion batteries and their aftermarket equivalents, SO you can not only use the batteries that come with it, but also Makita batteries if you've already got some of them. I've already got at least 11 or 12 Makita batteries, so the fact that they work with this tool is fantastic! If you have a 4.0 or 5.0 Ah battery or even mor then you'll have a ton of run time. This little guy is lightweight and easy to use. It has a screen that gives you an idea of the amount of battery left. It has a simple trigger safety mechanism and the arbor lock is pretty easy to use when it comes time to change wheels. It comes with an assortment of five wheels for a variety of different uses. It comes with a basic hex wrench for changing the wheels as well as two 21v batteries, a charger, and a fairly decent case to hold everything. The case is a little underwhelming as the "hinge" portion is kinda flimsy and it's very difficult to get everything positioned exactly perfectly for the case to close completely flush. The adjustable guard is just a piece of outer plastic that slides loosely on the inner guard. I'd imagine most people will likely just take it off and not use it as it would actually be more of a nuisance trying to keep it from falling off. Aside from the guard being lackluster I really can't find anything else to say negatively about the performance. These are much smaller cutting wheels than most angle ginders or cutoff tools use, so it's likely you'll not be able to stoll into every neighborhood hardware store and find them. Honestly, I haven't even tried to see how easy it is to find them, but I don't imagine it would be too difficult with some effort. So far that size disc/wheel has worked well with this tool and the tool has performed very well. If the guard/deflector were just a little bit better and the carrying case hinge was a little more robust I think this would be a five star item. I do think for about $50 this is still a good value and I would recommend the product. If you need a smaller cutoff tool or you're intimidated by larger ones then this product might be exactly what you need.
