  • Great machine once you know what you’re doing!
Style: New Wireless Model: SE700
If you know nothing about sewing, embroidery, etc. then this machine is what you need. There is literally directions all over this machine to show you what to do. You can even view built in directions on the touch screen. Even the pictured button light up green for good and red for bad. It also has built in safety features that don’t allow you to embroider if things aren’t in the right place (besides the bobbin; learned that the hard way). I will say that I have never even used a sewing machine. So, it’s has been about one month since I ordered the machine. I had to learn a lot. Never knew what a bobbin was, presser foot, etc. so I have nothing to compare this machine to. With that in mind, give yourself time to learn. I made plenty of mistakes and had 3 shirts I tested on, over and over. Be patient and learn as you go. Once you get the hang of it, you will love the results! Lastly, if you’re unable to spend another $50-$100 when you buy this machine, I would wait. You will need to order separate materials like colored thread, stabilizer (backing paper), tiny scissors, practice fabric (please do not use a nice shirt until you have multiple successful tests) and possibly, a subscription to the Brother design system. I ended up not using this designer but I still had to pay for it for the month. As a crafter, being able to embroider makes me so happy! I never thought it would be possible! ... show more

  • Great Machine
Style: New Wireless Model: SE700
We just started using this, but so far we are really happy. It almost threads itself. We are beginners and were worried about threading it. We watched a video on Brother’s website and it was so simple! Haven’t embroidered anything yet. We have more videos to watch before that. But it makes sewing really easy. ... show more

  • Worth the investment!!
Style: New Wireless Model: SE700
I LOVE this machine, for someone who is an "advanced" beginner this that's everything and more for me with a great price. I wanted to start to dabble in embroidery, and only small items this is perfect! This was an amazing upgrade from my brother that I had purchased 10yrs ago, it's so fast and quiet. I think this would be great for someone who knows that the working field that they want to work in embroidery and still enjoys sewing. It really is a lovely machine. ... show more

  • Fun!!
Style: New Wireless Model: SE700
It’s fun to use. Instructional book not very clear. Going on U tube to learn was easier in some areas. If you have big hands you may find it difficult to maneuver the threading, needle etc, very compact. Does not seem to be a sturdy as others I have. Lots of wobbles & squeaks. But it does what it is suppose to do well. I put a picture of my first project ( edited for privacy) below . Embroidered & framed as gift. ... show more

  • I really wanted to love this machine
Style: New Wireless Model: SE700
I really wanted to love this machine. It worked really well 2 times. I was able to download an image to the machine and the machine stitched it very well and I was very pleased. On the 3rd attempted, the thread kept breaking. I rethreaded the machine at least 10 times. I turned the machine off and on several times, I switched over to regular sewing, and then the bobbin case would not turn. I had the machine for 2 1/2 weeks and I returned it today. ... show more

  • Great for Beginners & Intermediate Sewists
Style: New Wireless Model: SE700
I'm relatively new to sewing and wanted to learn how to personalize our blankets/towels with embroidery. I bought the SE700 because I loved my SE600 so much (I'm only replacing the 600 with this model because my old machine fell off of the table and messed up the alignment and walking foot contraption. Pros: it's heavy duty, threads itself with a lever pull, does embroidery AND sewing fairly easily, and is ideal for people like me who are learning the craft at a beginner level. Seriously, the power of the embroidery feature is so fun that I jokingly tell people I want to embroider toilet paper now. Cons: artspira (the brother embroidery app) is not as awesome as the machine itself. It takes easily 3-4 tries with each item before I can get the embroidery feature to work in the way I want it to. I finally found moderate success by removing the background in one app before uploading the chosen image to Artspira. It's disappointing that the 4x4" design space limits my projects as much as it does. I don't know if I'd pay the extra $3-400 for a larger embroidery space, but if I keep up the current pace with my projects I may have to set some money aside to invest in a sewing machine with a 5x7" space to embroider. The machine's threading feature can take a few attempts depending on how finicky it is that day. Unsolicited advice: get the most out of this machine by ordering a magnetic embroidery hoops & a sturdy walking foot. The magnetic hoop made going from project to project EASY & it feels like cheating because I can embroider my proverbial toilet paper with a pull of a lever and a touch of the green button. That's it. The addition of the after market walking foot solved the problem of projects going crooked as it sews, resulting in items that had hems all over the place. ... show more

  • Easy for beginners and good quality for the price
Style: New Wireless Model: SE700
I’m a beginner embroidery artist. For beginners, this machine is more than enough. It’s fairly light weight, very portable, has lots of good features especially the WiFi connection which gives you a much wider range of options for designs. It’s cool! I was a little nervous to try it out but I’m glad I did and I’m glad I got this model not just a sewing machine. The embroidery is so much easier to do than I thought. I’d suggest just paying a little extra and buying the “package” option which gives you threads and extras . I bought those separately and probably could have saved money buying the combo. The quality is great for the price. It’s functionality is wide ranging. ... show more
