Description

Selecting a stitch is as easy as turning the dial, and the included instructional CD takes you through how to set up and use your machine. The upper thread tension control dial allows you to adjust the thread tension to suit your fabric and project, so you can avoid too loose or too tight or puckered stitches. LOVE LOVE LOVE Have been wanting to get into sewing for years now and have been looking around at sewing machines for months. Everybody on Reddit recommends getting a brother so imagine my bemusement when I see a Brother Lx3817 on sale (refurbished) I immediately jumped on it. Ive had it for about a week and so far so good and a good compact size and light enough that I can pick it up and store easily back in the box. It was super easy to thread and behind my sewing journey and found several videos on YouTube to get me started. Even though my machine was refurbished it still came with all the original accessories. It’s not super loud either which is a plus for late night projects. Also super versatile there’s quite a selection of stitches and even some decorative patterns but not too many that it feels overwhelming. Very happy with the overall quality especially for the price. Will do my best to come back and update the review if any issues occur. But seriously if you’re wondering if you should do it DO IT! ... show more

I bought this Renewed sewing machine out of desperation, as my old Kenmore (1969) was so tired. I received this light weight simple machine, which looked new. It had everything I needed to complete the job I was in process of doing. I can't believe it was (renewed)! I'm still waiting on my Kenmore to be returned. Compact and Reliable Sewing Machine for Everyday Use I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well this Brother RLX3817 performs, especially considering it’s a renewed model. Setup was straightforward—threading and bobbin winding are intuitive, and the machine comes with clear instructions that make it beginner-friendly. The 17 built-in stitches cover all the basics I need, from straight and zigzag to simple decorative patterns. Stitching is smooth and consistent, and the machine doesn’t “walk” across the table like some lighter models I’ve tried. I’ve used it for hemming pants, repairing seams, and even light craft projects, and it handled each task without a hiccup. The foot pedal is responsive and easy to control, which makes working on delicate fabric less stressful. I also appreciate how compact and lightweight it is—easy to move and store without taking up much room. That said, this isn’t a heavy-duty sewing machine. It handles denim and thicker fabrics if you go slowly, but it’s best suited for everyday repairs, clothing alterations, and lightweight projects. Also, since it’s renewed, you may notice small cosmetic signs of prior use, but mine arrived clean and in excellent working condition. What a plastic piece of crap. This machine won't even load the bobbin without a big uneven mess. Lots of information in the booklet, but nothing about how to change the light bulb, no phone number to call for help. A long list of threads to use and which needles to use but no numbers on the needles it came with. So you would not know if you had the right needle for the material you intended to use. I've used other sewing machines but I've never seen one that had a plastic lever to lift the shoe (foot) up and a little plastic post for the thread spool. It's pretty, It's light and the size is great but right now I don't like it. Just received it today. ... show more
