Description

Amazon’s choice Brinsea Eco Glow chick brooder for warming newly hatched chicks or ducklings (ASIN B008HVM56Q) has been redesigned to be even safer, more economical and easier to clean. The new Eco Glow 20 Safety 600 chick brooder is ideal for warming up to 20 newly hatched chicks or ducklings and suitable for any waterfowl or game-bird chicks. It is also ideal for classroom hatches. This chick warmer only uses 12 watts (5% of the electricity of typical suspended poultry heat lamps) because the chicks are in contact with its warm under-surface as they would under the mother hen. The new Eco Glow 20 Safety 600 chick brooder uses a metal warming plate which evens out hot and cold spots which occur with plastic heat plates improving heat radiation. The new flared skirt design also retains more heat further reducing energy use. Unlike other chick heating plates the Brinsea Eco Glow brooders run at 12Volt from a mains transformer (supplied) – a much safer option than mains voltage chicken heating plates or heat lamps. Other features include easy height settings for a wide range of chick sizes thanks to the 4 adjustable legs, a generous 10 feet power lead for extended reach, an indicator light, Bio master plastics and a FREE clear cover to make cleaning as easy as possible. Replacement covers are available in a pack of 3 (ASIN B07PZHPRML). 3-Year warranty subject to registration. For brooding larger numbers of chicks see the Brinsea Eco Glow Safety 1200 (ASIN B07PW2S49F)

  • Wonderful!
Love this brooder plate! Easy to use, gets really warm but doesn’t burn anyone, and you can have it on different height settings in the front and back. Better than others I’ve used. Registered it on their website just in case there’s any issue.

  • My chicks loved it
Works great, have used it for two batches now. Cleaned up great, heat level was perfect. We had 12 in our first batch and 18 in our second. We needed to buy a second unit as once they are about 2 weeks old they all can’t fit under it. As they grow they love standing on it but as babies they really did get enough heat from this unit that we were able to not use heat lamps on the colder nights in the basement. We we moved them to the coop at 4 weeks they were to big to use this but it served its purpose really well and saved us tons of money on electricity ... show more

  • Very simple and safe to use
We’re first time chicken owners and this product worked like a charm. We used it instead of a heat lamp and it kept our chicks plenty warm in a 55-65 degree F garage in the spring. It was just the right size for 6 growing Rhode Island reds and we kept raising it an inch or so per week. The chicks were adorable sticking their heads out by week 3 or 4, and really didn’t need it anymore around week 5 as temps were in 65-70 degree range in our garage by that point. Don’t throw out the cover, that is great for keeping it clean. The red light is also nice to let you know it’s actually working. Hard to know right away as it has to warm up. ... show more

  • Cozy Chicks
It works well. I would never warm chicks with a scary lamp again. I notice chicks are much calmer and happier with heat tunnels than with 24 hours lamps. Even the red lamps. At nights when temps drop I placed a brick on 2 sides which worked great to keep heat in and the bricks retained heat as well. It is open on each for easy entry exit for the chicks. I also lay a heating pad over my brooder (a rabbit cage) and cover it all with 2 blankets to get the brooder area warmer. But there is no way I would try and heat 20 chicks with it. Maybe quail or Serama? I have 6 chicks. I wouldn't try to heat more than 10 full size chicken chicks. Even then, they would outgrow it in a week. Therefore, I wouldn't use it for more than 6 chicks. As they grow some prefer to roost on top to warm their tummies, therefore the flat top and the clear cover are a must. The cover is a little flimsy. If it cracked I would have to try and order a replacement because it needs cleaning every morning and an an occassional wipe off through the the day. The pros are happier safer chicks. The cons are description suggests too many chicks and the clear plaster cover is too flimsy. ... show more

  • Great alternative to the heat lamp
I was encouraged to use this instead of the heat lamp. I use heat lamps for my turtles but this is a great option for the chicks and they really seemed to like it. It is also much more energy efficient. They are two weeks old and thriving. I raise it up a little higher every few days as they grow. The legs have threads for easy adjustments. I set it up so one side was higher than the other so they had options for how close to the heat they wanted to be. This size worked well for 7 chicks but would need something bigger if you had many chicks. It is fairly hot to the touch which surprised me at first but I can put my full hand on it without getting burned. It comes with a plastic cover which is a must as once they are old enough they like to sit on top of it and it gets covered in poop. ... show more

Got this brooder for my tiny chicks. It provides heat as well as something they can get under if they feel the need. As advertised and def recommend!

  • Brinsea Eco 20
Love this product. So easy to set up and adjust for growing poultry. I use it for chicks. I love that it is not a fire hazard, the main reason I bought it. We used heat lamps until a fire started from them. Brinsea products are reliable and the company does a great job if you have an issue. I have never had a problem with mine and it is now 3 years old. Chicks love it. I love it for the ease & knowledge my chicks are warm. ... show more
