  • High-capacity hopper: Extra large, rust- and dent-proof poly hopper holds 175 lb. (3. 5 cu. Ft.) of seed, fertilizer, Ice melt and more to maximize the time spent spreading vs. Refilling the hopper. Ideal size for yards 1 acre or larger.

  • Great sturdy unit.
I bought this about 3 weeks ago. As I was putting it together the frame was not lining up right so I called customer service and they express shipped a new frame. Assembly was very easy if you follow the instructions. I love the unit. I have only used it once this season so far but I really like how it performs. It was very simple to put together. Unit is very sturdy in my opinion. Air tires work well in the grass and pulls well. I have a zero turn mower so I have to get off the mower to adjust the hopper lever to open or close. I will have to rig a system for me to operate the lever from my seat. My unit came with a clear cover. I am very please so far with the unit and feel it was worth the money spent. All pieces were heavy duty in my opinion for my 1.5 acres. First load I filled the hopper to the rim. Did great with the weight. It did leave some material in the bottom since it is rather flat on the bottom. I plan to fix that by attaching some plastic in the bottom to make it more hopper shaped. Overall I am pleased with the unit. ... show more

  • Good value and really good product
I swear I spent 4 days (32 hours) on amazon looking over reviews - because (as you can see if you wish to) the reviews are quite mixed. There's not a clear-cut dominant winner in this category. Even the over-priced John Deere gear. So, I finally took the plunge and ordered the Brinly BS36BH model. Showed up on time and in perfect condition. Took 2 hours to assemble, and I'm good with this kind of thing. All parts were there, but instructions could use a revision. NOTE: Be certain to have a little axle grease on hand BEFORE you start to assemble! The mfgr. should really include a condiment-sized pouch. Works great. I had no issues at all, and I'm a picky SOB about everything in life. I put 120 lbs of weed n feed in it and off I went. The flow control worked flawlessly when turning on and off. I will agree with some reviewers that it's a bit top-heavy, as I had to carefully work across a 10% grade. I did this with the hopper only 1/3 full just for that reason, and it worked fine - this is the only significant design change I would make to the unit. So the only thing left is to see how durable it is over the coming years. My old Scott's 25 lbs tow-behind lasted over 18 years (all plastic wheels and gears too). ... show more

  • Decent Spreader But Needs Some Mods
A good unit but some design flaws. The discharge handle vibrates closed. You can look back and suddenly you're not spreading anything. Had to resort to some bailing twine to keep open pressure on the handle. Also, because we were already working on it, we added a string to close the drop door too. That way, with the addition of an eye bolt, you never have to turn around to grab the handle, just pull a string at the side of the seat. Also added a soft spring to the little stirring gizmo in the bottom of the hopper. Helps to keep things moving as we used it on blood meal. Now, blood meal is a very fine powder compared to most commercial fertilizers but this spreader, with the mods mentioned, did the job quite well. Because we were side dressing hops, we had to have the choice of discharging to the side, not just the back like all the other models. Matter of fact, this is the only spreader model we could find that had the discharge pattern choice. And, just in case you wanted to know, it discharges to the right much better than the left. Keep that in mind if you have a mower deck on your tractor. We found it much easier to just take the mower deck off the Cub Cadet so we could get closer to where we actually wanted the product spread. And to get all the product out? Speed up. I know it sounds counter intuitive but it worked for me. For that last pound or two of blood meal I sped up, to like gonad smashing speed, to bounce everything around, including me, and the hopper empties itself quite well. I was able to do a job that used to take three or four days by hand in just an afternoon with breaks for dinner and a couple thunderstorms to roll through. Clean up is a breeze. A quick rinse and she looks brand new again. This spreader would have earned five stars easily if it wasn't for the discharge door vibrating closed, making you have to go back over what should have already been treated, and the hopper retaining a pound or two of product do to a to-flat bottomed hopper design. We did end up having to screen our blood meal to get any big chunks out as they clog the discharge hole quite easily. This is problem with our blood meal supplier more so than with the spreader but it does add an extra step to the process so be aware of that. Plus we had to run the discharge door a bit more open than anyone would have thought. To get the blood meal to to fall consistently, we had to run the discharge door at about a 5 - 5.5 on the little gauge. At one point the handle that holds the stop for the discharge handle worked loose. We ended up having to check it every time we stopped to refill but it only really came loose that one time so crank it down as hard as you can after you figure discharge rate and check it once in a while. Also, the inside of my hopper had a large, ugly, blemish in the plastic. While not a weak spot or a problem to get the thing to work, a bit disconcerting for an item that carries this kind of price tag. The plastic axle bearings worry me a bit. I don't think they'll last near as long as the rest of the spreader so I plan on having to replace them sometime in the future. Overall, except as noted, happy with this spreader and looking forward to keeping it working here, hopefully for many years, on the organic hop farm with more blood meal and clover seed. ... show more

  • Well built, and working good so far.
Overall, this spreader seems to work very well, and seems solidly built. A vast improvement over the cheap plastic one it replaced. I've only used it once so far, and it worked well. It rolls nicely on the tires and has a good spread. The lever stayed in place for me, but I can see where some of the reviewers mentioned it may vibrate over time. I tightened down the pivot mechanism very tight, so that may be why. If it does happen, it would be easy enough to fix with a bungee cord or similar means. Assembly took around an hour. Most of the parts are in a blister pack separated by each step - very helpful to make sure you're using the right parts in the right places. The instructions were pretty good, but missed a few little details. Most notably that you need to attach the gold-colored linkage onto the adjuster before you finish assembling that piece - you cant slip it in after. Be very careful not to over tighten the bolts going thru the plastic bin, as it is easy for them to deform the plastic. The plastic is not thin, there is just not a flat on the tube under it. ... show more

  • Great disappointment - taken advantage of.
Color: Matte Black
I purchased this in October 2024 - 8 months ago. Lightly used to spread grass seed and fertilizer. The flow mechanism never worked properly, sometimes closing prematurely and other times opening when it should be closed. The broadcast feature broke in no longer rotates. Thus spreading fertilizer doesn’t spread the fertilizer. It just simply drops it and it’s a little bit trickles out. I feel like this is a worthless machine that is not worth the money paid for it. Very disappointed. I feel like I was taking advantage of. ... show more
