First of all, the four-star rating is purely for the clamp grip so powerful it was tough for me to open it long or wide enough to get it on the edge of my table. That's it. I needed help, and that's the only negative. Someone with arthritis or weak hands might struggle with this if it needs to be moved often. Other than that, this lamp is BRIGHT. It is like you turned on the sun - it's almost too much! Add to this the large magnifier area and you have a great lamp for whatever you're working on. I bought this for my scroll saw, so I could see the cutout lines and do a better job cutting. This is a good magnified light. It's easy to set up *Note, the clamp was hard to open at first but there is a screw on the clamp end, I used a screwdriver and unloosened it just a little and it opens easier. It(clamp) does have a good grip, but it's made out of plastic and not sure how well it will hold up, but being attached to the scroll saw, I won't be moving it. I recommend this. ... show more

    • Magnification not good at all if you have bad vision

I should of did research on how the magnification strength was bcse 1.75x is like looking through a window, I see no difference things are still blurry for me . It’s kinda of flimsy, when I try to raise the light up higher it drops down a few inches , so instead of adjusting it to the height I want , I just adjust it a few inches up higher and it drops down to almost or to what I want , sometimes it takes a few attempts to get it . I don’t bend it a lot bcse I’m afraid it might just start flopping and then it will become useless. The lighting is excellent ,The magnification is no use to me but the lighting is .
