I love it! I purchased this to use on a wooden tree my husband built me for my Christmas Villages . My only issue is the silver open top car does not match the couplings to the other cars, Every time it would go over the railer/derailer it would come off the track. My solution: take it off and set it aside until I can build a rail yard then I will park it! To solve the small couplings on the train itself I used tweezers to put the together. I ultimately returned this item without assembling. After seeing it in person, I realized it was a little smaller than what we wanted. I grew up having an HO train set and thought I'd like the smaller size for around the Christmas tree. Once I saw it, I realized that I'd prefer an HO set instead. This set not bad to me as a beginner in setting up trains...I have been seeking a scale size that would fit inside this fireplace which us a sentimental item to me...This is an N scale and I bought straight tracks separately which I strongly suggest to get if you want to get creative...the design I intended to do I need to get derailers for...but this is on a different craft level...Inside the box mainly round tracks come with set if recall think 2 straight tracks as well so a simple circle... I will give a thumbs up for this set...The disadvantage is if you cause it to derail(which I did my own fault) or if something may get on the track will cause main engine or cars to fall over...it is a task to get back on track but when do it is smooth sailing...Im happy with this purchase and I do recommend it. ... show more

This is a perfect train set for under our 4ft. Artificial tree. Make sure you measure the size you want, as this has a small circumference. The train cars are small, but they are very pleasant to watch going around our lit tree in the evening. Everything is high quality. The cars are a little difficult to connect. ... show more

I have downsized the height of my tree to 3' and never had trains under a tree before. However, I was an N-Scale train hobbyist for many, many years but circumstances forced me to give up the layout I had with over 200 buildings and over 500 people on it 20 years or so ago. I decided to indulge myself for this coming Christmas. These are the perfect scale for under a 3' tree in my humble opinion! I haven't unboxed them yet because I know once I take them out, I'll never put them away again. Can I just say, I can't wait for Christmas, by which time I will be 75 years old, LOL. ... show more

A very nice set in itself but apparently not expandable. Uses very strange knuckle couplers not even sold on Bachmanns website. So you can’t easily add cars.

    • Cute train but buy a bigger one !
Cute tiny train. N scale is so small that it is difficult to work with especially since the Engine did not work. It was difficult to diagnose and I’m an electrical engineer. Called customer service. They were reasonable and sent a replacement. It was fir my wife’s birthday so she did not get a working gift. I wanted to have it set up on the wagon wheel coffee table By the Christmas tree for her so it was a disappointment. Buying any accessories for N scale trains is difficult to find plus very expensive for tiny pieces of plastic. ... show more

Love trains. Love this one too. Must have trains at Christmas. Have a big one to bring big presents. Needed a tiny one to bring jewelry. Great train. Does well and because it’s small, it’s hard to set on tracks. No problem with the rerailer. Great train. Great buy.
