I am not sure I can review this book and give it justice ... This isn't some random book where you could separate things and talk about the characters one by one or the storyline or the writing NO ! You can't and you can't rate it because there isn't enough stars and there aren't enough words for me to express how I feel about this one . I want to create a shelf dedicated to it . I'd label it A lesson of LIFE . How can you write such book ? How can you create such a heroine is beyond me ...I'm at loss for words and I am really trying my hardest . I dived into it without reading the blurb little did I know I was going into one of the most amazing heartbreaking achingly beautiful and emotional book journeys I have ever encountered . Kate isn't your regular beautiful , brave kinda of gal no she is Kate Sedgwick bright side end of statement which means she is the most beautiful without-make-up-petite-curvy-witty beautiful , shell make you laugh at first until you can't take it anymore than she'll upset you by being utterly and ridiculously positive . She'll turn your world upside down and make you question your choices in life and give your own definition of beauty a whole new meaning . She is just taint kind of heroine . The simplest , selfless , funniest , loving most caring heroine out there hence the book name . She'll never disappoint you ever ! And you'll be eating in her hand by 10% of the book. And then BAM! She'll show you what a badass feisty and hot sexy side of her personality she is out of this world . And I am convinced Kim Holden is a Kate sedwig there isn't any other way she can't write a character like that from scratch I strongly believe in that . This is a story about love , unconditional , selfless, heartbreaking kind of love . The one that leaves you begging for more that wraps you up in cocoon and you find yourself infected by it . Reading this book is a big step because this one just stays with you it marks you for life. This is a story about friendship , family , not blood family your usual family no , but the one you built for yourself through life . This is story about home and who are the people that you consider home . Because home is where your people are ... Home is where your heart beats and finds its place... Home is your bright side that pulls you up and push you to follow your dreams . Home is Kate . I hope o don't sound cheesy to you guys :) but this is how this book left me wondering asking my self questions about life, family love everything valuable ... Kim Holden has a beautiful writing style you'd think she is talking to you personally , she'd throw words to live by in this book ... And god knows I love this kind of authors who give you part of their soul and their heart who share with you their thoughts about life . "Be spontaneous. Life has too many rules and restrictions and schedules. Change your plans to make room for fun. Be late every once in a while (I’m looking at you, Keller) and enjoy the moment for what it is or for what it can become" "Don’t judge each other. We all have our own s***. And when you get the invitation, help, don’t judge" I loved every second of this book , I felt as though the pages where hugging me despite the heartache and I thank Kim Holden for that for sharing this amazing story with us readers and for this I'll be forever grateful to her . I felt as she was having a conversation with me instead of just telling me a story that how I felt as though we were having a silent conversation ... Thanks for writing such an amazing story I live you for that . Masterpiece . Nothing short of a genius . I will read every-book she writes .

Favorite of 2014 Do Epic! Everyone needs to Do Epic. This book totally Did EPIC! It made me laugh, ugly cry, smile wide, and ugly cry some more. I have never in my life loved a story as much as I did with Bright Side. Author Kim Holden brings us a beautiful and powerful story of overcoming life, falling in love, and doing epic. She also gives us epic characters, and her writing is epic, along with her characters. Did I mention that already? Well, you get what I am saying...Bright Side is EPIC! I cannot count how many times where I have said that the heroin in a book, really captured my interest; where I fell deeply and madly in love with her. But I can tell you for certain, I was in over my head in love with Kate Sedgwick. She stole my heart, my soul, and totally changed the way I view everything and anything. Her perspective on life totally enraptured me. Kate Sedgwick is a force to be reckoned with. She is the glow that emanates off of life. She is fierce and a fighter. She is breathtaking. She is love. And Kate is the epitome of selfless and happiness. Kate Sedgwick came from not the greatest of backgrounds. But you know what, she made the best of every situation she was apart of. Regardless of having parents who were not so present in her life. She raised her special needs sister, worked, went to school, and is now headed to college. She did have two very special people in her life, besides her sister, who were always her constant. Gus and Audrey. These two people are so very special and also mean the world to me. Gus will forever be one of favorite sort of book boyfriends. The relationship he shares with Kate is purely platonic, but there is that sense of something more. Longing. Feelings. An all encompassing love. But nothing to be acted on. I, needed, or so I thought, for this to be something more. But as we learn who Kate is and who Gus is to her, that feeling slowly went away---just a little bit. Gus has always, and will always, be her person. And, Gahhhh if I don't love him more for that. He is truly wonderful, inside and out. Oh and his looks are to die for too....and not only is he smoking hot, he is a musician and in a band. The Rook. I have to add, that the other members in the band, The Rook, are utterly amazing. I have no ill words to say about this group. They are a piece of the Kate story, actually a big piece of Kates story. But know, Gus is so very special and important to Kate! There is another important piece to Kate's story. Keller. Oh man....just gahhh! He melted me inside and out. Like butter melting on a warm biscuit. He seduced me with his kindness, his charm, his perfection, and his words. Keller is a huge piece to Kate's story. He helps carve her into the woman she is. He shows her life through new eyes. Gives her something she hasn't ever had, and shares a something very special with her. Their initial interaction had me rooting for them. I, of course, didn't know where things would end up with these two, but wanted them to pair up-like no other. He is another very special person to her, like I mentioned about Gus. Their chemistry and bond had me swooning something fierce. I craved Keller. I craved their short and light conversations, their simple smiles, and their shared interests. Keller is it for me. He is also going down as my all time favorite book boyfriend. I need more of him, like pronto. Kate, Gus, and Keller were not the only characters who wooed and wowed me. Nope! Kate's comrades helped to steal the show. Shelly and Clayton. These are the best best friends, EVER...besides Gus. Their companionship's throughout this story, were strong and all consuming. I feel like Clayton and Shelly really needed Kate in their lives, to not only better it, but to complete it. And vice versa. I cannot say enough about those two. I seriously just love Clayton and Shelly so much. Too much! Soooooo......I feel as if Bright Side was broken into two halves. The first 48% was fun, exciting, new, and we learned who Kate was. The second 52% was brutal, gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, and again we learned who Kate was. These two parts totally caught me off guard, not that I didn't enjoy them, no, because I have never LOVED a book as much I do Bright Side. But because so much happens. You start to feel EVERYDANGTHING. The feels overcame me. The feels caused me to turn into a weeping beast. (No exaggeration, at all) I was ugly crying like no other. Tears and snot seeping out of me by the bucketloads. I.WAS.A.MESS. I have only ugly cried a handful of times, while reading, and they were equally beautiful and powerful stories. So to experience this book for all that it is, and to experience the ugly cry like I did, it goes down on my list of all time favorites. Bright Side is a story that grips you. That shows you the meaning of looking on the bright side. That will change you. That will make your heart smile, soar, and burst at the seams. And that shatters you completely, but also heals you. It shows you the power of strength in numbers and that no matter what, love will always overcome all; no matter what the scenario. I have never felt as broken as I did, after finishing Bright Side. I was seeing double, as the tears were pouring down my face. I was in a state of shock and awe. I was miserable, yet happy. The story shook me to my core, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. The ending had everything come full circle and Bright Side had it her way. She shaped and molded so many people who came into her life, she showed them what it means to live and to reach for the stars. WOW!!! Author Kim Holden has given us a masterpiece. It is so beautiful and I cannot wait to read more from her. She has found herself a new mega fan. Her words pierced me inside and out, something that doesn't happen all too often. For example, I started writing this review the morning after finishing the book, but couldn't continue on because I was rehashing everything and started crying. I turned into a blubbering mess. So, Bright Side will go down in history as breaking and mending me in a matter of a few hours.
