Most people who change their own oil,, on their lawn mowers and lawn tractors, myself included, have used regular motor oil for decades. This currently creates a possible problem for your small engine. A number of years ago, the Federal Government, in an effort to extend the life of automotive catalytic converters, had the oil refiners/sellers remove a critical ingredient, zinc based "ZDDP", from all motor oils. The zinc provided an important, high pressure lubricating function at the valve lifter/camshaft interface. While most cars manufactured after the late 80s, had roller valve lifters, which could function reasonably well without this additive, older style "flat tappet" equipped engines, such as the small engines in outdoor power equipment continue to be, still need the extra zinc, to ensure long life. This is where the B&S oil fits in. It has the higher zinc content of the "older" motor oil formulations.

This is good quality small engine oil for a small engine like a lawnmower. The size is perfect to fill your average oil reservoir in a lawnmower. Change the oil on your lawnmower, punch your man card, and earn ace handy man status.

My lawn mower takes 17oz of oil for every oil change. If I buy a quart, I end up with not enough oil remaining for the next oil change, so I need to buy another quart and it is a never ending cycle. I buy this instead for my oil changes. I recycle the remaining 1oz and don't have to worry about storing the left over oil.

I have one lawnmower and don't change the oil as often as I should. So this is perfect for me. It is the perfect amount to change most B&S small engines' oil. I drain the oil into a tub, fill the mower, and then pour the pan into the empty bottle before taking it to an oil drop off station. It more convenient than buying a quart even if it's a little more expensive by ounce this way.

I bought this pre-measured oil as part of a discounted set with spark plug and air filter to tune up the Briggs & Stratton 650EX on my lawn mower. All fired up right away after the tune-up and seems to be running fine. Don't just dump it all in--put in most of it, but check oil level before adding the last 3-5 ounces. I ended up with a few extra ounces I'll add later when the level drops.

Works for my Craftsman lawnmower with a Briggs & Stratton engine. I've used this type of oil since I got the mower and it works fine, even though I don't change it as often as I should. Going on 8 years even though the lawnmower itself isn't great. This bottle has just the right amount. Used in the Pacific NW Spring through Fall.

My Briggs and Stratton push mower took a dive and I didn't know the cause. Decided to change the oil again, spark plug and rebuild the carb. All needed to be done, so I can't say what the definitive answer was. All I know, is that after putting that much time into getting it running again, I was not going to use any other oil that was not recommended. This oil performs well and is trusted/recommended.

I had not changed my oil in my Briggs and Stratton lawn mower in 10 years and I felt that it was getting harder to pull the cord and start it. After I realized my neglect and noticed that the oil was gel and dirty, I drained what was left and filled up with this oil. Wow!!! It started right up with no issues and the pull was easy. I’ve been running for months with no issue so the oil was a life saver for my mower.
