If using with sourdough starter, it’ll heat it to around 95 Fahrenheit if placed straight on the pad. Recommend popsicle sticks or thin wood underneath

I have been battling sourdough starter for 2 weeks now. I got this mat and wanted to try it for the starter. I do not regret this. Within 2 days my starter FINALLY grew! It has a beautiful citrus scent now as well. It’s thriving. It can hold 3 jars (1gal and two 800ml). I had a collection of sourdough starters at different stages to simply see which one would succeed first. They are all at the same stage now somehow. I highly recommend putting 3 washcloths down since it does get very hot. My starters don’t go past 82. And that’s after 6 hours of warming. ... show more

I use this heater for my sourdough starter. It works pretty well, but it is a bit too hot, and there are no temperature controls. It does keep my starter active, but the bottom of the glass cooks so I need to get a new glass almost every day. Would rather have some thing with a temperature control or a lower heat. ... show more
