Munich and chocolate malts combine to create a darker, meltier version of its lighter counterpart, Hefeweizen. Amber brown in color yet medium bodied with a slightly sweet, bready flavor. A specialty wheat yeast produces the characteristic phenols found in traditional Weizens.

    • Replace the yeast
Kit was excellent but early results are so-so. I would make the investment in a higher quality yeast for the batch. I’ll see if it changes as it bottle ages.

    • Dunkelweizen is a smooth darker ale
I ordered two of these from My Brew Supply. They only had one, so they sent me all the same ingredients. I like the Dunkelweizen because it is different from the normal beers at the bar. I am making the next couple batches with personal additions to make it unique. I recommend this beer

    • Easy as other Brewer's Best to follow
Purchased for my 3rd extract beer run. Easy as other Brewer's Best to follow. Very dark. Finished fermenting after aprox 10 days. Don't really think the secondary racking is required. Bottled & 6 days later it was fully carbonated. Very fast turn around. Trying it warm (and new & green) it tastes more like a generic ale w/ a metallic/medicinal taste. I was expecting more wheat. Also even though I used 5 gallons of water my OG and FD were off by quite a bit. Not my favorite from the catalog sofar. =/ Hopefully in the next 1-2 weeks it will round out. ... show more

    • It’s okay for the price
Easy to make but holds more sediment than it should. Any Wizen should be hazy but this is way over the top. So bad it leaves a bunch on the bottom of the glass. I would suggest using a secondary and maybe even a clarifier.
