The cold brew and cold espresso features are what sold me they produce consistently smooth, flavorful shots with zero bitterness or sour notes. Every cup tastes balanced and reliable. We got our machine a couple of weeks ago and although there are still some drinks we have yet to make with it, the drinks we have made have been restaurant quality or better. But the reason I’m writing this review today is because I finally made myself the cold brew and Oh. My. Gosh. When I had seen someone make one on a video, to me, it looked watered down and like it wouldn’t be strong enough. Well… I was completely wrong. It doesn’t just beat the store bought cold brew but any coffee house cold brew I’ve had too. It’s officially ruined coffee for me from anywhere else. This semi-automatic replaced a Gaggia super-automatic. There is slightly more work between drinks using the knockbox, wiping out the filter basket, doing a quick flush of the shower head, and giving the shower head a quick wipe, but the quality of the espresso is significantly better. I was considering a machine with a double boiler, but I'm so glad I didn't get one of those. The jet heating system is ready to brew seconds after turning it on. I made an adjustment to the tamp fan to slightly reduce the size of the dose. You can find a lot of videos online on how to do this. Very easy and only took a minute or two. ... show more

I purchased this Breville espresso machine brand new from Amazon instead going with my gut & purchasing from a store front in consideration of the high price point ($2144.95). I had accumulated several Amazon gift cards I thought it was a safe bet given all of the years of positive experiences with Amazon purchases & simplicity of returns. I was pretty confident with my decision to make the purchase after reading lots of reviews on several store sites & watching numerous YouTube videos. We’ve traditionally had excellent luck with Breville products except for this particular item. The Breville instructions/set-up were easy to follow & we are not new to making espresso. However, this item was delivered with a defective grinder. I immediately returned it to Amazon and have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for a response from them. They keep updating my client portal with delay messages. I would not recommend purchasing this Breville Oracle Jet espresso machine directly from Amazon as they have continued to delay my refund and have not advised of a resolution. I’m left in limbo without my refund of $2144.95 nor do I have the machine. I’ll stick to ordering household goods from here on from Amazon. ... show more

    • Great machine, be careful during setup not to run it dry too much.

It has been a great machine so far! We have had it for a few months and make espresso daily. I would recommend running it without the filter in the water tank for a second before adding the filter, I had a hard time getting it to pull water through the filter at first and it ran dry a few times before I pulled the filter temporarily. I can only imagine it was not great for the machine to run dry like that. ... show more

This machine is an impressive piece of equipment that really makes quite a statement on your countertop. The stark contrast of black against the shiny chrome is a show-stopper. The features make it almost foolproof to make an amazing drink of your choice, so someone of any skill level can use it. It’s speedy and not terribly loud, compared to other espresso machines I’ve used in the past. My only true issue is with the bean hopper - there is no alert that your beans are running low. If you happen to run out when doing your grind, you don’t get a pause and alert that you’ve run out… instead, you get a partially filled portafilter that you can’t do anything with. Given all the bells and whistles this espresso machine has, I’m just really shocked that *this* particular feature isn’t one of them. ... show more
