While I'm just getting started with this machine the initial experience is five star! The waffle maker was easy to set up and the controls are intuitive and accurate. The display provides positive feedback regarding the choices you make. it clearly displays the mode selection, color setting and cook timer. It is surprisingly handy to have the countdown to done displayed in large text right on the machine. Each of the four waffle sections takes 1/2 cup of batter to make perfectly shaped individual waffles. Each is deliciously cooked to perfection. The color adjustment is crisp with a slight click at each increment as well as a visual indication of the setting on the display screen. During the initial experimentation several batches were made at various settings and each came out markedly different with respect to doneness and crispiness of the exterior. In my opinion this demonstrates precise temperature control of the unit. The unit handles continuous operation with ease and no differece in cooktime or doneness was observed after repeated sequential batches. A light shot of cooking spray on each square before each batch resulted in easy removal with fingertips pinching the waffle edge while lifting straight out of the machine. No sticking at all. Just be careful because they are hot! The waffles themselves are sized perfectly. Each is just right for a side on a breakfast platter and two squares are the perfect size for one hearty searving on their own. They are nicely sized to make ahead, freeze and pop in the toaster at some point in the future. The classic mode takes about 3-1/2 minutes to complete.     • Best waffles, incredibly easy to use, first class design
We bought this several weeks ago, and have now made several batches of waffles. The waffles turn out perfectly cooked from the outside in. The non-stick surface is amazing. This morning we accidentally left butter out of the recipe and the waffles still lifted out effortlessly. We tossed them and re-made the waffles with butter after that. The iron heats up quickly. If you plug it in when you start collecting and mixing the ingredients, it will be hot before you are ready to pour the batter in. The timer and settings are simple, clear to see, and easy to use. You can see exactly how much time is left until the waffles will be ready, and it beeps when the timer hits zero, so if you're at the table eating one batch, you can hear when the next batch is ready. The waffle pattern is deep, making thick waffles. The bottom tray is particularly deep, with a nice tray around it to collect overflow. I am terrible at overfilling waffle irons. I ruined our previous iron (another brand) when the batter seeped into the knobs and I tried removing them to clean the iron. This Breville is foolproof when it comes to spills. I haven't had anything seep out. The only area for improvement is how the power cord folds away. There is a place under the iron to wrap the cord, and there is a little left over cord that hangs out the back. This piece of cord, with the plug wants to flop down under the iron when you put the iron away. Not a big deal, but if any Breville engineers are reading this, take note. Another nice feature: when you reach in the cabinet to pull the iron out, the underside of the left and right sides is contoured in, which allows you to comfortably grasp and lift the iron without forcing your fingers under it.     • Great waffles!
This makes the most beautiful, deep-cavity, perfect waffles, with 4 to a single batch. I like that it has lights to show the different stages, as I'm not a pro at waffle making. Even so, I can reliably make perfect waffles every time. This is good-sized and has some heft to it, but its so easy to operate and clean, even has a channel to catch any over-enthusiastic application of batter. It comes with a cup sized for that application, so I have found over-application to almost be deliberate. Using the included cup, I have never had any batter enter the overfloe channel. It comes with a small, detailed recipe booklet. I've tried all the recipes in it, and they all work. Other recipes I've used also work well. Cleanup is so easy. I've never had a waffle stick no matter the recipe. It's a little pricey, but I'm ever so happy with my purchase. Now I can have waffle breakfasts for friends and have various toppings so each can make their heart's desire waffle! So much fun with so little effort! ... show more
