This is a very nice waffle maker, but this is only based on short term usage (Used it four times so maybe 20 full size waffles) Makes a good evenly browned waffle - crispness on the outside (depending on the setting) and soft on the inside. The moat is a useful feature; however, you should still aim for minimizing overflow. Once you use it, this will be easy to estimate. If it significantly overflows into the moat, it will not make a mess, but you will notice that the top will brown more. The waffles detach easily - there is a lot of surface contact so don't expect to just rip them off, they will likely tear. Just pry gently with a suitable tool, and you will not have any issues. The initial odor from the non-stick surface seems less than with others I have tried, though it is still there. I have found I use the maximum browning setting, but I am also using a gluten free mix. Not sure if the gf makes a difference; may just be that I prefer a crispier waffle. Breville is kind of like the Ferrari of kitchen appliances; they are stylish and perform well. The styling is a bit different. At first it looks a bit unbalanced because of the large moat, but this is such a nice feature and the appearance grows on you after a short while. The stainless steel is noticeably heavier than other brands. The handle is sturdy, the sides are plastic, but the part you touch is stainless steel. It feels heavy which is a good thing. The underside has a cut out for making the cord shorter or for storing the cord when not in use. It is odd to see a kitchen appliance like this with a grounded plug (3 wire) - maybe this is a European requirement? The plug is also very different in appearance as it is shaped with a pull to make removal safer. It's a bit pricey, but I believe you are paying for quality. It has gone up in price from when I bought it. At $149 it is $20 more than I paid

This Breville waffle iron is attractive and solidly constructed. It takes a little longer to warm to a mid-range temperature than I would have anticipated but it toasts my chaffles (not waffles) consistently every time. I recommend it.

The quality is superb except for one tiny component that holds the waffle maker closed. It broke after a waffle was expanding in the maker. The waffle maker is straight to the point and I like that. Anyone should find it easy to use. The digital beep is pretty on point for when the waffle has browned. The value for the cost is not bad. It’s an expensive maker but it seems durable and high quality. The weight is as expected, a little heavy but that’s because it’s hefty/durable. The nonstick coating works great. It cooks fairly quickly as well. Update 11 April 2024: Upon reviewing the instruction booklet, I realized the little piece that broke was only for storage and not for cooking.

I had a round All Clad waffle iron for about twenty years. When I looked to retire it, the new ones were all for Belgian waffles. So, decided to try Breville. So glad I did. It makes the best waffles ever whether you like them crispy or soft, they are delicious. The best part is I no longer have to use PAM to keep them from sticking. The little ‘moat’ that catches the excess batter keeps the unit easy to clean with the bonus, it cooks it up as well so you have no waste and a tasty little tidbit on the side. It’s easy to store, very compact. Definitely worth the money!!!

So far, I am really happy with this waffle maker. We replaced an old rectangle type waffle maker that had no custom settings, no audible alarm, and was being held together by tape. This one is a huge step up from that. I chose the Breville because I have used their products before and have been happy with the quality of them, I wanted a round non-Belgian style waffle maker that allowed me to fine tune the darkness of the waffle, and I wanted something that had an audible alert. Waffles cook evenly, which is very important. Cleanup is a breeze too, which is also very important since this isn't something you can just wash in a sink or dishwasher. The little moat around the edge works exactly as advertised, catching any overflow and cooking it to make for easy cleanup. The latch on the lid to lock it when storing is extremely helpful since you often have to grab it by the handle to get it in and out of the cabinet. The audible alert is easy to hear. When storing the waffle maker, the waffle maker has a place underneath to wrap the cord to keep it out of the way. The build quality of this waffle maker meets my expectations in every way except for one minor defect on our unit. On the rear outer side of the waffle maker, an area that is not used for cooking nor comes in contact with any food, I found a chip in the non-stick coating. It doesn't appear to be flaking, which could allow the exposure to become larger with time. Since it isn't in the cooking area and doesn't appear to be in a condition that could get worse, I decided to not exchange the unit yet and observe it during its warranty. If it wasn't for this minor flaw, I would be giving this review 5 stars.

Ideal for two! The waffle iron is nice and hot by the time we have finished our first waffle, and cooks quickly. The sides stay cooler, reducing burns, and the drip tray works great. It makes well browned nice round traditional waffles. There is a latch in the front that secures the iron closed for storage. This is a well thought out iron, quite nice.

Breville makes the best products and this waffle iron is amazing. Every thing you want in a waffle iron it has. The waffle iron can be set to whatever heat you want. If you want your waffle dark, they’ve got the setting for that. If you want your waffle light, they’ve got the setting for that
