I've used electric drip coffee makers for the past 40 years. Always a cone filter. Always a paper filter. This Braun automatic drip coffee maker is easy to fill, easy to clean, makes great coffee very quickly*. I've had this a bit over a month. It took a few brews to dial in the amount of beans to grind (about 5-10% more than in my previous machine) and the amount of time* to grind the beans (about 35% longer than for previous machine). Features are nice and easy to use. Very satisfied. Quality, solid product as you would expect from Braun. *I found that I had to grind longer to get a finer grind since the machine brews so quickly. You'll want to have finer grounds for the water to drip through. The finer grounds slow down the drip and lets the coffee brew properly. Otherwise you'll get a weak pot of coffee w/ the same amount of grounds. Highly recommended. ... show more

For price in modern day, cood soilf coffee maker. No drip stop, no bells n whistles, its also rather slow. This however, makes it aall the better. I dont love the pot, but cost effective. Rest is well made, looks good, cleans. Filters NOT NEEDED. Has reusable Filter! So its a great slow brew tvat qdds flavor. Dont expect the high cost add ons, just soild, good amount of good coffee. ... show more

My last Braun coffeemaker lasted 20-25 years (I lost track). Until it didn’t. One morning I filled it up, turned it on, and nothing — no noise, no sputtering, no leaking, just the glow of its little forlorn light and clock. So when I went looking for a replacement, I considered no brand but Braun. I didn’t need a 14 cupper, and the 12 cup version in black was less expensive than stainless steel. Besides, the ancient one was black. It works great, makes good coffee, just like my old workhorse. I didn’t really need 12 cups, but I appreciate the 1-4 cup adjuster. It does appear to do … something. Did I mention my old coffeemaker died the day before Thanksgiving? Bless, Amazon, the new one arrived on Friday well in time for Saturday morning coffee. A few design deficits, proving that newer is not always better: - It’s hard to tell exactly where to pour the water into the reservoir and easy to miss. Been there, done that, already. - I figured out how to remove the filter basket, but I feared breaking it on my first attempt. Once out, I learned it won’t stand up on its own for filling. (The ancient one did.) That means either prop it up (on what, pray tell?!) or fill it in place. The problem with filling in place? Before I’ve had my coffee, my aim isn’t always spot on. And I have no idea how to get errant coffee grounds out of the water reservoir where I’m sure they will wreak havoc. - The clock is so dim as to be virtually worthless. - This unit is a bunch bigger — taller, wider, hulkier — than my earlier model. Why? But still, Braun makes a damn good cuppa coffee. And that’s the real test, right? ... show more

Previous coffee maker quit brewing after 5 years (very good in my experience). I had some features that I used often and wanted again in the new machine. I attempted to buy the same model that quit working, but the "new, improved" version was lacking several of the features that I was looking for (and had been on the "old" model), and the price had more than doubled. I was very happy to find this coffeemaker (has most of the things that I was looking for) and hope that I get at least 5 years of use (we use the coffee maker every day for 1 pot; sometimes on weekends we will make 2 pots) Features I was looking for: =12-14 cup capacity =option to make 1-4 cups (be aware that if you put in water for more than 4 cups it will brew it all even if the 1-4 button is active - I think all coffeemaker with this function work that way) =timer / auto brew / set up the coffee maker before bed to wake to brewed coffee - -[ previous pot let you set 2 different timers (we used one for week days, one for weekends) could set them and just select the one you wanted to use] you can only program one time with this model so have to set a different time if wanted - not a huge deal, but it was nice to have both times already set =stay hot feature longer than 2 hours (seems to be the standard) ; some would say coffee is not good after sitting more than 2 hours, but... ;previous machine could be set in 15 min. increments to 4 hours - - this model does not promote it, but can be set in 15 min. increments to 5 hours (and it does stay hot), if you do not press the stay hot button it will auto shut off after 2 hours =hot brew temps, my husband likes his coffee hot, and if you add cream that cools it a bit - - this is hot enough =reusable gold mesh filter - comes with it ="self cleaning" function /mode -- put in the water & vinegar and press the button (be sure to run fresh water through a few times after the clean cycle is done) =decent size - - not a huge footprint on the counter or too high to fit under the cupboard so can push back out of the way =added plus is that it does not create steam when brewing - previous pot would release steam from top/back - - this coffee maker does not so if under the cupboard you are not damaging your woodwork ------------------------- -the clock/display is not backlit (it is black numbers on gray background) so it is not be visible in the dark, this is not a big deal for me I do not use it as a clock (lots of other clocks in the kitchen (microwave, stove, actual clock on wall); when I need to see the display (setting/changing brew time - only when I need to change it, setting/changing stay warm time (again not often) I have the room lights on and it is not an issue. The indicator lights for each function are green and easy to see what you have set -I did not have difficulty figuring out how to use it [be sure to press the on/off button when you set the auto brew and press it (it lights up) when you press the brew button if starting the brew manually or overriding the auto brew] After about a month I am very happy with this coffeemaker. I hope that it keeps working for a long time. ... show more
