    • Excellent Shave but horrible instructions

I upgraded from an older series 7 Braun shaver to the 7085 shaver. The shave is much improved and love that the foil stays on the face during the entire shave. It moves over the chin, neck and face with ease and stays flush. This provides a nice close shave without any nicks. The attachments are nice and several were included which are great for sideburn trimming, beard trimming and stubble trimming. Its a little bit of an effort to remove the foil and snap on the other attachments and I miss the pop up trimmer on my old shaver but they all perform well. The cleaning system is a little different and in order to charge the shaver while in the smart care unit, you have to also clean it. The old system didn't require this. Not a big deal as the shaver will last a long time between charges so you can just let it sit in the smart care system and just clean when you need to and get a charge. Now the bad part which is the instructions. There are pictures without much explanations so you have to try decipher what it means. I did figure it out as there is an info button on the shaver and when you press this it runs through the battery status, foil status and cleaning status. I did a chat with with customer service and high bars on each of these are good (full charge, good foil, and clean unit) whereas a low bar/no bar means its time for a charge, the foil needs to be changed and/or the shaver needs to be cleaned. It is a wet/dry shaver so you can shave with soap/water if you want and you can also just clean the shaver/foil under soap and water if you want. So this is a nice feature and can reduce how often you run it through the smart care cleaner. So all in all I am happy with it and the shaver is a nice upgrade. ... show more

I’d give this product 5 stars if it wasn’t for the horrible, almost incomprehensible user manual (actually a single sheet of diagrams) which forces the user to figure out the use and operation of the shaver through sheer trial and error. I’ve had an older model self-cleaning Braun shaver for years so I had some experience and figuring out the nuances of this one didn’t take long but good luck with the printed directions. I tried to find the "user manual" online at Braun's website but it was merely more of the same. I’m surprised that a terrificGerman company like Braun would be so inept at providing information to its customers particularly given the price of their products. Otherwise, it’s a great shaver with multi-use attachments which are easily switched out for trimming, from very close, clean shave, a stubble attachment for that look, a trimmer attachment with 7 length varieties and of course the attractive cleaner/charger base. The battery length is superb, even if you shave every day and the self-cleaning option works perfectly. The shaver is very ergonomically comfortable and even looks good sitting on the countertop inserted in the base. It also comes with a very nice travel case with room for needed attachments. In short, great razor/trimmer, a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Only negative—lack of a decent user manual. ... show more

I had an older Braun Series 7 and bought this one as a replacement. It is a much better shave than the previous model. The only thing that it is missing is the pop-up trimmer that the older version had. But I can live without that. Overall it is a great choice.

    • Couldn't be happier to be using a braun razor again

In recent few years had moved from Braun to Panasonic, but definitely comparing both high end razors, the Braun wins in spades, its good to be back. the shave is closer, more comfortable conforming better with the 360 degree system to your face and no razor burn at all. The one area that's confusing thus far is when to change the cleaning tank cartridges, believe something is supposed to turn red but not seeing it yet at least 30 days into the process. Surprising since in AZ, you'd think the alcohol based cleaner would have evaporated quite a bit at this point, so stayed tuned and we'll solve the mystery.
