Description

Two Steps Forward in Foot Drop Support For individuals dealing with the day-to-day challenge of foot drop or suffering from foot and ankle instability, remaining independently mobile can be quite a task. The potential for stumbles and falls is a constant danger. The AFO S-Type by Brace On is designed specifically to provide the required ankle support and joint stability to help minimize the risk while walking and moving. Foot drop makes it difficult to lift the front part of your foot, so it might drag on the floor when you walk. This can cause you to raise your thigh when you walk, as though climbing stairs (steppage gait), to help your foot clear the floor. This unusual gait might cause you to slap your foot down onto the floor with each step. Constructed of lightweight and flexible injection molded polyethylene with padded calf cuffs and straps for additional comfort, the S-Type provides all the strength to keep you on the go, and because it can be taken on and off so easily, you can decide when you want to wear it. The open heel and lower calf design combined with its lightweight low-profile, and moldable and trimmable footplate means it can be worn inside most shoes. The S-Type also features a premium ankle strap and buckle closure for a secure and comfortable fit. Available as Left or Right, Mens or Womens. Product Benefits: - Provides ankle and joint stability - Helps reduce stumbles and falls - Lightweight and flexible - Padded calf strap and cuff - Footplate and straps can be trimmed for custom fit - Secure buckle closure - Available Left or Right, Men’s or Women’s

  • Best ‘drop foot’ ankle support brace!
Style: Men, Right
I’ve been suffering from foot drop + ankle instability for years now, and I’ve tried literally every orthopedic device recommended by my doctors and physical rehab trainers. But the AFO S-Type (BraceOn) is a GAME CHANGER!! To be worn with a shoe, fits with most shoes and boots I’ve paired it with, maximum comfortability, and the padded calf cuff and straps significantly helps prevent irritation and sore spots experienced with other previously tried products. The biggest difference I’ve noticed since wearing the BraceOn AFO is being able to walk up stairs without tripping over my dropped foot (my office has one elevator that never works so this is a life saver!). Would recommend 10/10 to anybody with similar foot/ankle issues. ... show more

  • Foot plate a problem
Style: Women, Right
I keep hoping that I will find a light brace that will help with my drop foot and neuropathy. I only had to take one look and know that this brace was not going to help. Why? 1. The very, very narrow plate for the bottom of the foot will cut into the sides of wide and/or swollen feet. 2. The brace arrived with no instructions except for the lines on the bottom of the toe for cutting. 3. Cutting will not be easy without heavy scissors or clippers and, after cutting the edges will have to be sanded to avoid cuts when worn. 4. The bottom plate is smooth, hard plastic. It slides in socks, on carpet...it slides. 5. The bottom strap is a loose velcro strip with a small round velcro sticky glue tab for attaching to the brace. It really doesn't do much to brace the leg and foot. It is just kind of there. Oddly, the top part brace that fits the calf is well padded and comfortable. The velcro is extra-long and it is easy to attach. I have tried a lot of braces and wraps and I could immediately see that the foot plate would be the cause of multiple problems I didn't even attempt to cut or wear it. I didn't want to end up on the floor because of the slick plate going out from under me. If this brace works for you, great. But it is not for me. Returned. . ... show more

  • Difficult to use, painful arch, not for me
Style: Women, Right
I had high hopes, but this is not for me. The arch hit very wrong. The straps are very hard to get on and off. I tried to wear it, and I had to take it off after a short period of time. It was so painful. The conept of not sizing a brace, then putting an arch in it, is less than ideal. The placement of the ankle strap didn't work for me at all, and now I am stuck with the brace because I had to trim it to get it into my shoe. I would avoid especially if you are under a size 8 and have hemiparesis or significant weaknesses in your leg/foot. ... show more
