  • OVERALL GOOD PRODUCT
I purchased this product for use with an upright bass that is equipped with a David Gage Realist under-the-bridge pickup that does an excellent job of capturing the acoustic characteristics of the instrument. When played through my old Ampeg B15N (vacuum tubes) using a wired connection, the result is a very natural tone. Unlike a bass guitar, an upright bass poses a frequency response challenge to devices such as this one due to the doghouse’s much richer harmonic content. So I was concerned that this wireless setup would color the bass’ tone in an undesirable way. Such wasn’t the case. The bass sounds exactly as it would through a cable, even when being bowed. Using this thing is very simple. Connect the receiver (base station) to your amp, insert the transmitter into the base station so the two can link up and the immediately connect the transmitter to your instrument. You should have a working connection within a couple of seconds. Note that the base station will not power up unless you’ve got a cable plugged into its output jack. During testing when I first got the unit, I determine it would work at a range of ~50 feet at home. A public venue will be more electrically-noisy than a residence, so your range may be less. For my application, it’s not a big deal—an upright bass isn’t the most portable of musical instruments. So I'm not going to be running around on a stage with it. ☻ My only negative comment is transmitter battery life doesn’t appear to be all that great. Accordingly, when we take a break between sets, I immediately pull the transmitter and put it into the base station for charging. As for running the base station from AA-batteries, don't waste your time! Buy the somewhat-overpriced wall-wart that Boss sells. ... show more

  • Best wireless device vs others
Best product when talking wireless. Compared to the line 6, its better in battery life, doesn't have that issue with the power jack connection. It has in out power connection thus it does not need an additional power connection. The tone cable option is very cool Quality is great. Only issue is that it does not auto switch off if no use, also transmitter needs to be removed from the base if not used otherwise the battery will drain. Overall. Its a great device Highly recommend ... show more

  • Great sound but a little awkward for angled jacks
Doesn't fit properly if you have a recessed angled Jack on your guitar. I had to make a short jumper cable to move it to my strap which solved the connection issue, but unfortunately this makes it a little awkward.

  • Freedom from the cord
This transmitter has worked wonderfully for me. Completely quiet when I plug in and disconnect. I had an issue with the unit not charging my transmitter properly. Turns out this was because in order to charge, the base unit needs 320 mA. The circuit that I had this plugged into in my voodoo labs ISO 5 was only delivering 100 mA. When I switched over to a circuit that delivered 400 mA, charging worked fine. You can also charge the transmitter with a USB cable which is convenient. I bought this unit because of the convenience of charging through the 12 V power source in my pedal board, it’s working seamlessly. Roland‘s support was awesome prompt and extremely helpful in sorting the shop. ... show more

  • So Far Sooo Goood!!!
I was skeptical at first, not with the quality and performance but whether it will mess with my Wifi at home and vice versa. Been using it a lot. So far, no issues. Battery life is also great for three to four hours of playing, holding up great. No sound degradation whatsoever. Only thing, creeps me out that I still move and turn like trying to avoid stepping on a cable that’s simply not there anymore… well, I think I can put up with that little incovenience lol ... show more

  • Not worth the high price, at all.
I've been using the $40 Getaria wireless system for a year or so. I liked the pedal board integration idea behind the WL50, and thought I'd invest the money in something with better battery life and a more convenient charging. First problem. It's a bad fit in a strat style guitar. I play a G&L Comanche, and it fits, but since it has a button that senses when it's plugged in, a simple bump can knock it out enough to shut it off. Add in a whammy bar, and you'll be bumping that a lot. Not a great design for the style input. Second problem. Interference. When I use my laptop to pull up backing tracks and practice routines on YouTube, the wifi in the laptop interferes with the system. Seriously? $40 Getaria setup doesn't have this problem at all. This $250 system can't handle that? Not even going to attempt to play a gig with this. They advise to keep it away from the router, but a laptop? The router is on the other side of the room. Additionally, with the Getaria system I can walk to every corner of my house with absolutely no interruption, yet this setup breaks up consistently. Maybe these wouldn't effect many looking to purchase this, but my point is there are more reliable systems for wayyyy cheaper. 2 stars is being generous. Only because the pedal board integration and charging is great. Tone is excellent as well! But it's too bad it falls far too short to be worth the money. Far too short. Hard pass from me. • Works very well.
I've used this almost daily for a week or so and zero issues. I've walked a pretty good distance from the receiver without any problems. I've used cheaper wireless systems in the past and this unit can receive signal at least twice as far. Battery life hasn't been a problem either.
