  • Boss Ph-3 Phase Shifter
Style: Pedal
The Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter pedal is a versatile choice for musicians looking for various phasing effects. It offers seven phase modes, including 4, 8, 10, and 12-stage phases, and unique "Rise" and "Fall" modes that provide upward or downward phasing effects. Additionally, the pedal features a "Step" mode that creates a distinctive stairstep sweep cycle, adding a unique texture to the sound. One of the standout features of the PH-3 is its digital circuitry, which offers greater control over the depth and resonance of the phasing effect. This digital design allows the pedal to blend vintage and modern sounds effectively, making it suitable for various musical styles. Including a tap tempo function and compatibility with expression pedals further enhances its versatility, allowing for real-time control over the phasing effect. Regarding build quality, the Boss PH-3 is backed by solid construction typical of Boss pedals, ensuring durability for live performances and regular use. ... show more

  • Nice, quality modulation sounds
Phase shifter kicked a chorus and flanger from my pedal board. The pedal is capabable of producing some very vowel like sounds; almost like an auto wah. Makes some nice swirly chorus sounds and of course some beautiful complex phaser sounds. I can get some Rolling Stones phaser sounds, some vibey Pink Floyd sounds, some chorus like sounds for Police stuff with this phaser. A very musical pedal. Step phaser settings are odd but unique. I like this one and think it's worth a try. ... show more

  • New Model = No Volume Drop!
Style: Pedal
Boss fixed it! Thus, this pedal is now awesome. Little known fact about this pedal, is that at the lowest setting on the resonance knob, it will give you varying cocked-wah tones when you set the rate to minimum. Which btw way, is worth purchasing this in and of itself. Great for punch through in a band setting for a lead or switch-up. People confuse this option for tone-suck. It's not tone-suck, it's changing your base tone on each phase setting - it is an awesome feature. Think: a different Q-Zone for each stage. Anyway... It helps with running it before distortions when cutting through the mix. The 4th stage phaser does have a minor throb that is reminiscent of a lighter univibe - which rules. (Yes I have legit univibes, I know what the real ones sound like). And you can nearly get that famous Super Phaser sound on the 12 stage setting. It is gently different. ...6th stage is a less warbly phase 90 style, while also giving you the versatility option to either run overdrives before and after it - and still sounds good. And no background hiss! The step phasing is excellent. Think: tremelo in seeming random frequencies. Turns out it is very useful behind distortions. (Didn't see that one coming - fun as hell)... Never thought I'd ever use it. I love that setting. Placed early in your pedal chain, this could quite possibly be an always on pedal for you... certainly is becoming that for me. Yes, the old versions had volume drop - but the new versions however do not! Buy a new one - its totally worth it. ... show more

  • Fantastic on guitar. Devours bass tones.
Style: Pedal
This pedal is fantastic and versatile on my Strat, but it absolutely devours all bass tones which is what I was hoping to use it more with, both my active and passive basses. I experimented with the location in the chain, before and after buffers, and with my EQ. I am happy with my signal chain and I did not want to move my EQ-200 behind this to regain the lost low end. Ultimately I returned this as I really am not looking for a phaser for my guitar. If I were this would be spot on in so many ways. I know Boss pedals can eat tone, but I was not ready for just how much this deadened my bass signal. Again though, awesome on my Strat. ... show more

  • Classic pedal to add to your chain
Style: Pedal
What's not to love about this pedal, It's a Boss. They make more pedals than the rest and these are perfect if you want to add some color to your live performance as a beat boxer or DJ. As a synth player I add pedals for added effects I can't get using software I use the Phase-Shifter,Flanger, Compressor, Avalanche Run by Earthquaker Devices, and Superego+ by electro-harmoniix for some truly awesome effects. ... show more

  • Fills An Important Niche In The World Of Guitar Pedal Effects
I've been 'pedal crazy' for the last 5 years... trying everything in sight, and, sadly, letting go of unwanted, useless to me, pedal sounds that didn't add anything useful to my effects for playing 'Pink Floyd' and 'Blues' style guitar. The Boss Ph-3r Phaser now becomes a central and valued pedal in what I consider to be my 'final five' of 'Wha - Cry Baby,' Fultone 3 - distortion,' RC3 - which is simply to record and playback for 'layered' playing, Strymon 'Big Sky' - reverb for sounds into outer space, and now, the Boss Ph-3r Phaser which I will focus on here: A solid pedal in the Boss line-up, added dimensions are included in expanded controls which put this pedal at the top of all 'Phaser' pedals I looked at before deciding on this one as a Best Investment. This is a highly recommended pedal which fills an important niche in the world of guitar pedal effects. I don't know what it is about the Japan label on this pedal, but I'm glad I got this one as I have Cameras made in Japan which are first class and I would say that that recommendation alone transfers over to this great sounding and well-made pedal. ... show more
