Top Amazon Reviews

  • Read description for VERY thorough review.
Color: Black
PREFACE I am 6'5" and around 270lbs, so I'd say I'm a decent judge of a comfortable chair. As an avid PC gamer I spend almost all of my free time at my computer desk, and I literally annihilate computer chairs. Most chairs are uncomfortable, so I decided to invest in a good one meant for people my size. I researched for about a week before deciding with confidence to purchase this model, both for it's budget price, design, and overwhelmingly good reviews. I read EVERY SINGLE REVIEW on Amazon for this chair, 5 star down to 1. So without further ado, let's get started. SHIPPING It shipped and subsequently was delivered on the exact day it was meant to. Lots of reviewers complained about shipping containers being jacked up, this is the responsibility of UPS, not the supplier/shipper. My box was fine, but I've also had other heavy packages delivered before that were screwed up. Everything was fine though. ASSEMBLY The assembly was mostly complication free. I think you COULD assemble it with just one person but I could tell it would've been a bit of a pain, get a helper. We didn't experience any of the screw stripping other reviewers did. Everything fit nicely together. The instructions were simple and understandable with all pieces being clearly marked, albeit we didn't follow the steps in the order on the instruction sheet, they made sense none-the-less. CONSTRUCTION I cannot attest to the chairs strength over a length of time but first impressions are really good. It feels extremely sturdy and the arms wrapping around the back provide very nice support. It just FEELS really strong. Everything so far seems to be working as intended as well. FEEL It's very comfortable, the lumbar support is very strong and promotes a healthy posture, which I am completely happy with. I think this is subjective to the user, but for my size it contours well to my back and doesn't hurt it at all. Many reviewers complained of the seat being too short, like they were going to slide off the front., At 6'5" with lanky long legs, I dont have this issue at all so far. I imagine some of that issue probably stems from having extra layers on the back from being a thicker person. I can't attest to how the seat will feel to my bottom yet, after a few long gaming sessions I will come back with more info on that though. The height is just great for someone my size, the reviewers complaining about that probably are big and not tall. This is a big AND tall chair, so I believe that to be a moot point, theyre complaining about the height of a chair designed for tail people. CONCLUSION I will come back and edit this review later as I use this chair more, right now it's great. Here in a few months, that could change, but for now, it's as good as advertised. I predict good things of it. ... show more

  • So far so good. I am 6'4" and 315+/- depending on life
Color: Black
So far so good. I am 6'4" and 315+/- depending on life. Very sturdy and good padding. Structurally more well made than the counterparts. I did not like it when I first sat in it. Inititially it does fell like you are going to slide out of the seat in the upright position. It just doesn't feel like your old chair blues and a few other complaints. Let it break in. Now your chair doesn't throw you forward and is more comfortable than your last chair because the extra foam seating broke in. Glad it's there. Putting together a little rough because padding is not broke in. Maybe sit or lie on them apart and would be much easier. It is tough. They say use 2 people, but I muscled it in. Just DO NOT muscle in the screws. Screws neeed to glide in or you will ruin the thread and have a ruined chair. Just line up and gently start the thread. Do it without the peice added and you will know when you have it right and feels good. Repeat with part on. I worked in a handyman business for years and a stripped thread is the best way to wreck a decent planned item. Well, I know something wrong because the little plug they give you to hide the hole pops out when u sit back. Screw pops it out. Defective. Thanks ... show more

  • Best chair I have ever used, BUT....
Color: Black
It takes a lot of research and a lot of investment to decide to spend $260+ just on a computer chair. Even though this chair had no reviews on Amazon, I researched heavily around the web for chairs with more than a 200lb capacity that would also hold both me and my daughter(sometimes she wants to sit on my lap and watch me play a game, or she wants to play a game while sitting on my lap, even though there is another computer right beside mine). Not pictured above, the arms are actually ONE SINGLE PIECE, which is amazing and sturdy. The arms have brackets on the bottom that actually bolt into the underside of the chair, and the arm bar actually wraps around the back of the chair for addition structure and support on the back. They bolt into the center of the back of the rear section in addition to bolting into the underside of the chair. The bottom of the chair itself has extra thick plating and extra bars welded on for a higher weight limit/more stability. The arm bars are metal, not plastic. Same for the bottom frame that the wheels are attached to. I cannot picture this chair ever bending or breaking. The chair rolls very easily on my hardwood floors in my office as well as carpet. The padding is extremely thick and pretty firm, with heavy people in mind I think. My wife feels that it is firm but not uncomfortable (she weighs less than I do). The chair does recline back and goes up and down. I feel that it does not go down quite as far as my previous chair did but then again it could feel that way because of the additional padding, my last chair I felt like I was sitting directly on the frame because the padding was so thin. My elbows do not quite touch the armrests but my arms do rest on them, after become acclimated to this I am not ok with it and do not notice (originally I hated that, but I am a tall person and most others may not have this problem). I also get the feeling that it doesn't recline as far as my last chair, but my wife pointed out that this was also probably due to the additional padding. Overall I enjoy the quality and sturdiness of this product and expect to be using it for years to come. I have never seen a more heavy duty chair, and am glad I took a risk deciding to invest in it! ... show more

  • Big guy, big chair.
Color: Black
I'm a big guy. 350lbs and 5'11". If you are a big guy like me, you will like this chair. *****PROS***** -Very comfortable. I've had this for about 6 months and the pads are just as full as the day I bought it. Other chairs would have been flat a month ago. -Wide! Its so nice to sit in a chair that I can spread out in. Even with how big I am, this is still a very supportive chair with lots of space for me. I worried that the space between the arm rests would make me sit with my legs tightly together, but that just not the case. The seat is wide and strong. -I don't feel like I'm going to break it. When I sit in it, when I get up, when I lean all the way back, when I lean to one side and rest my weight on one arm rest, IT JUST FEELS SOLID. The arm rest is actually 1 long thick bar that bolts to the bottom of the chair. That bar goes all the way around the back of the chair and attaches to the underside of the other side. Because of this bar, it feels VERY solid, even when I lean all the way back. I am confident in this chair and don't feel like its going to give on me at all. This is so weird to me because I am just so used to breaking chairs and replacing them every year. I don't feel like I have to be careful in this chair. It doesn't creek or strain at all, no matter how I sit in it. *****CONS***** - The only bad thing I can think of is putting it together. It took me and my wife about an hour to get it together. Don't try to do it alone because there are certain parts that just need 4 hands. There are a few reviews from people who are less than 300lbs saying that its uncomfortable, well.. yeah.. its not made for you. It's a very comfortable chair for big or tall guys like me though and worth every penny. Especially considering that if I bought a regular chair at an office supply store, I would probably be back there now looking at another +$100 chair to replace the one I bought when I got this one. ... show more

  • Horrible Product and Horrible Service for a long time Amazon Customer - Long Review and Comments Horrible Product and Horrible Service for a long time Amazon Customer - Long Review and Comments
Color: Bomber Brown
Upon arrival I noticed the caster wheels were already attached, except one. I found the one not attached in the bottom of the box and it was split where the chair inserts into the caster wheel. No big deal, just email Amazon and ask for a replacement caster wheel. Done. I continued with putting the chair together and the single screw/bolt that attaches the back of the chair to the wrap around armrests broke in half. The screw/bolt is partly inside the thread but there is no way for me to remove the armrests from the back of the chair at this point making disassembley impossible without breaking the chair. So between the single broken screw/bolt that holds the entire back attached to the armrest and the wheel that was broken upon arrival I am not very impressed. I have fully assembled the chair at this point and attached an old caster wheel in place of the broken one (same size and fit). The chair seems to be stable at this time but I don't think it is all that comfortable nor would I tempt this chair long term with the broken bolt only half way threaded in place. The seat base is shorter than my old chair, I feel like I am sitting in 2/3 of a chair. I also feel like someone is kneeing me in the lumbar section of my back. I am 6' tall and weigh 280lbs. Avoid this chair at all costs. I am currently awaiting to hear from Amazon about how to proceed. Shipping it back to them may prove difficult with the fact I can't remove the arm rests. Update 11/25/15 - Amazon emailed me back to inform me that they cannot send a replacement caster wheel, I would have to return the entire thing to them...I found this out as I had logged in to email about the bolt that snapped halfway through screwing it in. I then sent a second email asking them how I should go about returning this chair because I am unable to disassemble it due to the broken bolt. I received a second reply stating that they have shipped me a replacement chair at the "fastest shipping rate" possible. I had never asked for a replacement to be sent nor did I receive an answer to how I should proceed shipping it back when I can't completely disassemble it. I was also told I could cancel the replacement order if I wanted to. Well...at that time I still had no clarification on how I was to ship back the chair and sadly found out I could not cancel the chair because it was "already too far along processing" to do so. I emailed them back again, now the third time and received an email telling me I had these three options: 1.) If you're interested in keeping the Boss Office Products LeatherPlus Heavy Duty Double Plush Chair, 350-Pound, Traditional with the missing piece, I'd like to offer you a refund of $68.55, which is 30% off the price. To accept this refund, let us know and we'll issue the refund. 2.) If you can buy the damaged parts to a local store, please write us back the amount and we'll be happy to refund you for it. 3.) Otherwise, you can return the item for the replacement that was created. They never told me how to ship the chair back that I could not disassemble, despite asking yet again. Please note how they graciously offered me to keep a broken chair with a small refund or to fix it myself or they refund me the cost of the parts (What about my time and aggravation while doing so?), or return it when the replacement arrives! Again, they told me to return the chair without telling me HOW when I can't take it apart. I emailed Amazon a fourth time, with my frustration at not being told how to accomplish what they wanted me to do. After not hearing back in almost a 24 hour period, I contacted Customer Service by phone. The phone agent I dealt with was very nice...but she apparently could not grasp the broken bolt not allowing disassembly of the chair for shipping as well, despite being informed of the problem several times. She finally had an Aha! moment and got it. She then spoke with another department and her supervisor while I was on hold and told me I could keep the broken chair and the one they were shipping as a replacement as well. At this point I am frustrated to the point of defeat and tell them I don't want the chair that is coming nor do I want a defective chair. She told me to donate it. Donate a broken chair that is missing a caster wheel and the bolt holding the armrests secure is only halfway threaded and broken? Oh..roll it to the curb for trash then....Well, my trash company doesn't pick up things like this. And I was to refuse delivery of the chair when it arrived if I didn't want it. UPS never required a shipment, they drop things at my door and run as quickly as they can back to the truck. I can't recall the last time I actually signed for an Amazon order. Seeing there was to be no real resolution to this problem, I thanked her for her help and got off the phone. I noticed that I had received two emails from Amazon while I had been on the phone, one stating to keep the defective chair and that it would be refunded to me and a second stating the replacement chair was free and did not have to be returned. I had felt better for a brief moment, thinking Amazon realized that this had been a horrible customer experience and was trying to make up for it. Then it dawned on me that Amazon had been a little inept so far and I should confirm. Guess what... That was not the case. Another agent informed me that I had indeed paid for the defective chair, but that the new chair was really free and I could keep it without returning it. So... I get a broken chair which I paid for a replacement chair I can keep that I don't want at this time? Great. Thanks Amazon. That's really not any better for me at this point. I emailed them back yet again, relaying the entirety of the weekend's events and told them my thoughts of the entire process I had experienced over the weekend and that I would appreciate if a manager would look over all the correspondences and contact me. I received a vague response from another agent thanking me (it also included a bunch of canned comments that I had already seen throughout every single email I had already received? They must have robots or something working Amazon CS with the amount of copy and paste going on)for my time and that this would be forwarded on and action would be taken? Again, a vague response. What type of action? Does that mean I would hear from someone in management? I emailed again asking them to clarify if I would hear from a manager. Received another vague response apologizing for my experience and gave me a 15 dollar credit that would apply to my credit. I emailed back one final time asking for a manager to review the situation and to contact me. Another vague response with absolutely no acknowledgement of my request. I've used Amazon for years now, preferred to shop through them than most anywhere else. They have some really cool features to their service that are innovative. I've actually using Amazon because of them. However this experience with their customer service department that fail in reading comprehension, offer vague responses littered with copy and pasted lines, and their inability to answer a question asked directly makes me question using this company any further. I realize one customer leaving will not make an impact on their profits. That's fine. Maybe this issue would have been resolved if I had merely had the communication with a supervisor/manager as requested instead of being ignored. I have now spent around 4 hours of my time dealing with this order. I've tried to be detailed and communicate clearly through the whole process. I feel like I have had no closure to this problem due to the fact that I couldn't simply have a question answered after asking nor the fact that my request to speak to a supervisor/manager was ignored over and over. I wasn't asking to get something without paying for it. I never have thought that I should get to keep the defective chair and the replacement chair for nothing. I just simply wanted someone to understand what I said and answer the questions I had asked the first time. All the frustration and aggravation in this situation has stemmed from a customer service that failed to communicate clearly with the customer and each other. There had been an opportunity for Amazon to salvage this situation and secure my loyalty as a long time customer. Instead Amazon provided nothing but vague comments that were copy and pasted, apologies for various failures on their part, ignored questions that were asked and ignored all requests to be contacted by a supervisor or manager. ... show more

  • low-end of similar chairs at this weight capacity (350 lbs) executive-style desk chairs, but still nice
Color: Black
A good chair. Not great. Not bad. More utilitarian than beautiful, but still nice. I am still getting over the fact I had to pay $208 for a decent chair, given I am buying this to replace a chair just like this (less rugged, but with a nice real leather finish) that I got 8 years ago for half this price. Still, as I kept reading online for a good chair for larger-sized folk, it seemed this was consistently reviewed for being fairly comfortable, strong, and less prone to breaking down. Believe me, I did my research. The options basically were much nicer chairs that cost twice this amount, or going another route with a standard armless desk chair. My expectations are this will not be quite as heavy-duty as I hoped. This has nothing to do with the sturdiness of chair - it is rugged! Rather, the material feels fairly fragile and I fear it will easily tear. Also, the metal used in the arms and the base looks like it will easily scratch. ASSEMBLY: Yeah, assembly is a PIA. Not impossible - just challenging, especially when doing it on your own. I am an old-pro at the "some assembly required" issue, having assembled at least 90% of the furniture in our home on my own, and regularly having to do quick fixes since I tend to buy stuff on the cheap side. That being said, this was in the top 25% most difficult self-assembly items. I managed to finish it on my own in about 45 minutes with the help of a small ottoman as a support/tabletop surface. I found it impossible to do as the instructions said of first doing the back bolt and second doing the seat with the arms. This was my strategy. 1) attach arms to seat using 4 bolts on each side, 2) slide in back (putting washer over bolt sticking out of back of arms that sticks into chair back) and attach seat bottom to seat back using 4 smaller bolts, 3) attach arm bar to back of chair using long bolt, 4) attach piston stand to chair base, 5) put assembled chair on top of piston stand. Then grab a glass or wine or a beer and be amazed with your strength and creative problem-solving. I am usually good about making updates if things go particularly bad with an item. So if it has been a few months and nothing else is here, I would say it is living up to expectations. ... show more

  • Good value, good chair.
Color: Black
This is a very comfortable and nicely-built chair. While not the ultra-plush bottom-coddling model you can get by spending a lot more money, I find that it has good padding for hours of comfortable seating. The armrests and seat are wide enough that I have room to move if needed, and the chair rolls easily on my low-pile carpet. Assembly was relatively straightforward, though it required a bit of patience and a heavy-duty Phillips screwdriver; it can be a little tricky for a 1-man job (putting the arm bar on the seat back took several tries to hit the hole just right to start tightening the bolt), and I made 3 passes through all the screws on the seat bottom (12) before I was satisfied that I had them as tight as they were going to get. Failure to do this will result in some serious problems, so make sure you check and recheck each screw...sometimes when you tighten a couple, another one will find just a bit more room to tighten. The end result, though, is worth the effort. The chair feels solid, and when I lean back the lumbar support is good. For this price, you're going to have a tough time finding a better chair, especially if you're on the larger side. ... show more

  • An excellent and sturdy chair that is worth the price.
Color: Black
Update/Edit: I ordered another one of these chairs after the last one lasted through 5 years (2016-2021) of heavy use and they've improved on this model of the chair, and the disc mechanism under the seat is gone and replaced with better support. This is the same chair I got before but they've improved on the flaws that bothered me before, so now after two years of use (2021-2023) on the newer one, I updated it to 5 stars. Below is my older review if you're interested in reading it, but the seat support/stability issue is largely if not totally resolved with the improvements made to the chair base. Let me caveat this by saying my own fault is that I shouldn't have gotten a chair with lumbar support. I suggest that if you have never owned or sat in a char with lumbar support that you try one out before buying one. This chair is great and would be near-perfect for me if I had such foresight and I got one without lumbar support. This thing is sturdy, if a bit squeaky. The bar for the arm rests wrap around the back of the chair and attach on the bottom and the back of the chair. What this means is that unlike most other, cheaper office/computer chairs, when you lean back it isn't simply the back of the chair pulling on the arms and them pulling on the bottom seat. No, when you lean back in this, the back pushes on the nice steel bar that is attached to the bottom seat FROM the bottom, leaning everything back at once with you, avoiding creating the high failure rate stress points on cheaper-made chairs. I only one complaint about the chair, only one of which isn't my own fault: The squeaking. You can adjust the seat using small metal discs on both sides under the seat, that you can screw up or down, to avoid 'clicking'; when leaning back. It takes some adjusting, but they don't help with the squeaking, only the 'clicking', which would not be an issue if they weren't there. I'm not entirely sure of their purpose. ... show more
