I absolutely love this Bosch sander. The previous Bosch sander had just died and I bought this sander to replace it. But I love most about this sander is the dust containment. It does a fantastic job of keeping the dust very minimal and much better than other brands, even better than Milwaukee. For the price point it is a fantastic sander for home projects with plenty of power, durable construction, and versatile. The weight of the sander is lighter than cordless models, which I appreciate especially when sanding for long periods of time. This sander is so easy to use. This is a powerful sander, with low noise, the size fits easily in your hand, and the speed is very fast, and the dust collector attachment keeps the dust down.

    • Great little sander
2 years later, I am still pleased with both sanders. However, the on-board filter for both has worn such that it no longer fits tightly and you can see a stream of dust escaping at the connection to the sander. This is not a big deal for me as I almost always attach the shop vac. It is clearly a result of the plastic wearing down through removal and replacement of the filter. In the beginning I could barely force it off and on. Now it slips off or on very easily. One other issue with the filter is the difficulty of taking the cover off. It fits so tightly that I broke one of the tabs trying to remove it. Because most reviews are very positive, I purchased this product in spite of two reviewers reporting vibration problems. It turns out to be the smoothest ROS I have every used, and much less noisy than my older Bosch ROS (which still works great after many hours of use). The included filter works very well, and attached to my shop Vac it leaves almost no dust. There is an error in the description that you should note before purchasing. Click on "More Details" and it apparently takes you to the description of the ROS20 - the variable speed version. The ROS10 is a single speed, single mode sander. ... show more

    • Good, basic orbit sander with a difficult-to-use dust compartment.
I have used this sander a lot, and it does what it should without a lot of extras. It is comfortable to hold and control, without any problems with vibration. Its single speed setting is good enough to sand both hardwood and softwood. The dust collection is very good, although I understand you have to use the right sandpaper to allow the dust through. The little plastic dust collector, however, is just that: little. It is not enough to sand a sheet of 4'x8' plywood without stopping halfway through to empty it. The mechanism for opening and closing the dust collector is infuriating, especially since you have to empty it so often. Also, after significant use the dust collector would no longer stay on the sander: there is only a small force-fit ring of plastic to hold it on. For a time I was using duct tape to keep it on. Since then I have abandoned the little plastic dust compartment in favor of attaching the sander to a shop vac, and I am much happier. I have also had problems with the hook and loop pads. Even though I try not to use the sander for too long, and try to always remove the sandpaper after use, I have had to replace the pad on the sander once, and will soon have to do so a second time. I am not sure if that is me, or the sander, or if that just happens to all such orbit sanders. ... show more
