Description

The Bosch GEX34-6N 6 In. Multi-Hole Random Orbit Sander/Polisher features the ability to use virtually any brand of sandpaper on the market because of the multi-hole design. The sander still maintains optimum dust extraction to help ensure better quality of the finished workpiece’s surface. It also provides 2X sandpaper life due to increased efficiency (this is also due to the multi-hole design that the sander can increase the life of the sandpaper). It features a microfilter dust canister with integrated paper filter and a vacuum-hose connection. The tool features a solid die-cast aluminum gear housing with exclusive dual-bearing pad mount, for less vibration. The variable-speed dial allows the user to match the speed of the sander to the workpiece and task, from 5,500 to 12,000 orbits per minute (opm). To ensure a strong grip of the disc while in use, it employs a hook-and-loop disc attachment system. The sander was designed with an ergonomic soft-grip top and body.

  • Very well made and excellent dust collection
Well worth the money and it is still cheaper than several other brands. Low vibration and excellent dust collection

  • Dust collection and finish as good as Festool
I recently sold my arsenal of Festool sanders because I wasn’t using them much anymore and I needed to free up some cash. Bought this Bosch sander as a replacement and couldn’t be happier. Festool and Centec hoses fit perfectly. Dust collection is every bit as good as Festool. My only gripe are the holes in the dust port (to reduce suction power). My Festool vacuum has adjustable suction, so the holes aren’t needed. I covered them with foil HVAC tape. Also bought some True Grit sanding discs that have the same 15-hole pattern as the Bosch. Terrific machine and the price is right! ... show more

  • Awesome power and provides suction control!
I bought this to help finish out some cabinets and surface the cutting boards I am making. I love the power of this sander and I really like the 6" disc for those bigger surface areas. I have a number of the Bosch 5" sanders as well, however for the bigger surface areas this really shines. Things to Note: 1) this sander has the ability to control the amount of suction going to the sander. At the base of the dust port on the sander is a hole that you can cover all or part with your vacuum hose. This will help control the bouncing and bucking that the sander gives for those powerful shop vacs. I have it partially covered it with tape and I have eliminated all of the bouncing and bucking on my projects. This feature is explained in the owner's manual. The nice thing is that is it user-controllable. I have noted that if you vary the style of sanding discs you use, you may want to adjust the size of the opening. This is why I use tape, to provide me more control for proper dust suction. 2) use high-quality 6" sanding discs. This sander has a lot of power and the cheap sanding discs do two things a: don't last b: don't work as well and leave grit everywhere. The sanding disc that I use for this sander can be bought here on amazon - Mirka 9a-241-AP Abranet Disc assortment 35 pack. Pricier than those cheap ones for sure- however, the most important part of a project is finishing. 3) Use a sandpaper backing pad! The Mirka discs I mentioned earlier are very thin and let a lot of airflow through, however, because they are so thin the velcro nibs on the sanding pad will pop through the sanding disc. To prevent you from sanding off your velcro nibs on your sander use a sandpaper backing pad. The one that I use is a Mirka 9956 Abranet grip-faced pad protector. They come in a 5 pack. 4) The sander has the ability to use different densities of sanding pads. The sanding pad that comes standard is medium. Bosch also offers soft, hard, and buffing pads for this sander. The use of different sanding pads will dictate how you use the sander and what specific quality and operational procedures the sander will deliver to your workflow. Do some research on why you might want different sanding pads - it opens up new areas with this sander. 5) Use the right tool for a job. Don't expect this sander to be as nimble as your 5" sander or as powerful as the direct drive 6" sander that Bosch makes. If you buy this sander with those expectations you will not be happy. This sander has a lot more power than a standard 5" sander, HOWEVER, it is not equal to a belt sander or a direct drives 6" sander. *** Please don't skimp on the quality sanding discs and the backing pad. If you cant budget for those items - DONT GET THIS SANDER. Also, please don't complain that the sander is garbage when you don't use quality sanding products and don't read the manual or you bought it for the wrong job. *** I will be buying another one as I want one with a Hard pad for doing my cutting boards. ... show more

  • Powerful, dustfree, bulky
You don't get something for nothing, so size and general balance suffers a little to get the power for a truly fine sander. Smooth speed control, with good stock removal. The only problem, common to most tools, is the dust suction connection is awkward. The adapter is strangely huge and I'm not sure why it is even necessary. Get it all hooked up with adapter, and crappy ribbed vac hose(not Bosch's problem) and you have something about a comfortable to use a as colostomy bag. Cord which is always different in length than the vac hose and it's a ballet of clumsiness. There needs to be a convergence of dust collection hoses and tool design so it's not such a pain to use. None of this preceding diatribe is any distraction from the excellent sander. ... show more

  • Absolute best for the money
This sander is excellent. I'm a full-time woodworker and have used every festool sander that they have made and I can honestly say that this Bosch sander is not only a contender, but better in some ways. The vibration control is excellent. There is pretty much zero vibration. Excellent dust collection. For the money, it is the best option. Bosch nailed it. It is significantly cheaper than Festool's options and performs just as well with even less vibration. When I fired it up for the first time, it literally made me smile. Buy it. ... show more

  • For fairly bigger jobs.
Did a 3’ x 6’ white oak top today. 180 grit at first then 220 using cubitron. It ’s got some grunt. Didn’t take long at all. Machine is quite smooth and manageable. Had it hooked up to my Bosch dust extractor,(also very nice). Dust collection was extremely good. Very happy with this tool. I would buy this again and recommend it to anyone. ... show more
