I got this to keep ants out of cat food. Works great. I add a tiny drop of soap in the water I pour in the trough to break the surface tension of the water so ants don't walk across. The metal bowls are lightweight but stay in the silicone holder. I was going to buy another more expensive cat dish similar to this but other reviewers noted that there was a space between the dish and the holder that ants crawled up through. It pays to read reviews!

I have two (2) cats that are fascinated by water and constantly tipping anything with water in it OVER. Believe me I have tried just about every device to keep this from happening but I never found anything that really worked...until now. The Bonza Cat and Small Dog Bowels came to the rescue and now the water tipping days for the two girls are totally over. I have watched them trying to empty the water out of the bowel and then trying to tip the entire unit over. Sorry, no luck kitties! Yes, I'm happy I purchased this unit. And I'd do it again when the time comes.

I ordered this for my sister and brother-in-law who sit for our dog occassionally. They just had wooden floors installed and I didn't want spilled water from dog bowls to ruin them.

My cat has a bell on her collar, occasionally with another dish holder that was twisted wired. The cats bell will gets caught in the tray and then she freaks and then drag everything all over the place. At first it was kind of funny but at 3 AM in the morning when you hear things crashing in in the kitchen, it wasn’t. The new tray is very nice and not susceptible to that kind of pandemonium. And much easier to clean with bigger dishes.
