IT IS QUIETER than others I have ... Seems well-made ... Glad I got the 10-sheet model
This is my third home shredder. It cost somewhat more than the other 2 and like them, it slows down considerably when shredding the rated number of sheets. But IT IS A LOT QUIETER! I got the 10-sheet capacity model rather than the 8-sheet and am glad I did. The one thing I did like better about one of my previous shredders was that it had a PULL OUT debris bin. This one you have to LIFT OFF a somewhat heavy top unit and find some place to put it down while emptying the bin. But overall I'm a "happy camper" with it. UPDATE - After 2+ years, this continues to work well, and it's a pleasure to hear it "purr away, effortlessly" as it grinds away 6-8 sheets, only seeming to be "laboring" at all when it "eats" the rated 10 sheets. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for home use not exceeding it's rated capacity. ... show more

Great value for price and personal use only!
No problems!! I don't go over the 4 minute continual use recommendation, and haven't had a "burning" smell or stopping of shredder from being over used, that I've read others have experienced. I have sat and used for over half hour but not continually loading with documents during that period. Never had any problems doing that. While I think 10 papers is a bit much at once, machine seems to have a harder time doing that, I have put in up to 7-8 and machine works with no problems. While I've only had @ a month, I've eliminated all I've been saving in two days. Feeling better my paperwork can't get into the wrong hands with sensitive info. in them. Had cheaper shredders in past, but they burned out quick, even following recommendations. I think me and this one gonna be together much longer. Reasonably priced for my usage I believe! It jammed once, I hit reverse, then forward buttons...perfectly finished shredding! Very easy to put together and use immediately. I only use at home for personal papers. Bin does fill fast and I've had to empty few times to continue using, but again, its for my personal use and emptying bin allows cool down time to top piece which is shredder. ... show more

Excellent product, works great.
I've been using this for quite a while and it has not failed me yet. Shreads great. Excellent value in my opinon 10 sheet is a little too much for it but 4 or 5 run through just fine. As I expected.

Keep looking or buy the protection plan....you're gonna need it.
If you are looking for a disposable shredder that will work for about 6 months then this is the product for you. This is the second shredder from BONSEN that I have purchased that lasted less than a year. This was for home use and generally only used to shred junk mail and financial statements (removed from the envelopes and fed 2 sheets at a time). The first one I purchased was the 8 sheet crosscut. It bogged down whenever you put more than 2 sheets at a time through it. In less than a year the the motor failed. Customer support was worthless and told me to buy another one. I figured maybe I just got a lemon so I decided to try again with a bigger model; the new and supposedly improved 10 sheet cross-cut version. The new one generally worked ok for a while but could only handle about 4 sheets at a time, less than half the advertised capability. This one lasted less than 6 months. I was shredding paper for about 5 minutes yesterday and the motor kept struggling, even with no paper running through the teeth. The motor slowly lost power and literally started smoking. It wasn't clogged or jammed and I didn't exceed the duty cycle in 5 minutes. I had to unplug the unit and take it outside. So buyer beware. If you buy a BONSEN shredder you will want to buy Amazon's protection plan so you can get it replaced in 6 months. Just know that they only replace it once though so after a year when both have failed you will once again be in the market for a new shredder like I am right now. ... show more

Valuable!
The Bonsen 10-sheet cross-cut Shredder is easy to use. I have shredded so many sheets of paper and with the crosscut design and you cannot recognize any of the papers you are disposing of. It is portability, and size is great.

Great little shredder & tough too.
Bought this back in Feb '25. Been using it a lot to shred lots of old documents & even some old credit cards. Works great! Just mske sure to give it a rest periodically so as not to over heat. (Other reviews mentioned this issue) I would let it rest a minute or so after several minutes of non stop shreeding) The top is heavier than I expected, but it's only a couple of pounds, so not a flimsy thing, which is good. I would certainly recommend this as a good home/small office shredder. ... show more
