For the price point and the size, I honestly was not expecting what I got. This is a hardy little guy for the price and size. That being said, I have run unopened mail envelopes, cards, and staples through the poor little guy and only jammed once. When it jammed I was testing the limit and was running maybe 15 sheets through at once. Quick to correct and we are back at it. It is a bit noisy, but c'mon... it's a shredder not a whisper. Would buy again.

This paper shredder is a good size for a small household. The handle on top makes emptying the receptacle so much easier! In fact, this was what prompted us to purchase this particular shredder. The cross-cut shred adds extra information security. It is a bit noisy, but we have had shredders in the past that were much louder, so the noise from this one doesn't bother us. The shredder is used 3-4/week, and we have shredded up to 8 pages at a time with no problems. We have also easily shredded credit cards and pages with staples.

Great value for the money. THE GOOD: I put it through thousands of documents and it worked without a hitch. The overheated light came up after, approximately, 1 hour of hard work, clips and staples and all. No problem, just pull out the top, unplug, remove some shreds to allow air flow, and leave it upside down. The a/c will do magic on cooling it and in less than the advertised 45min, the red light will turn off. THE BAD: The basket is as smooth as it comes, so it is very hard to hold it while emptying it; you have to use both hands and it's slippery. THE VERY GOOD: A Workhorse at a great price.

So I was hoping this would work for cardboard because I read another review and they said it worked, but that is not the case. I so I don’t know what kind of cardboard they were. Shredding…There is no way I could take a piece of cardboard and have it shred. It barely handles 6 pieces of paper.

Large capacity, VERY powerful. The crosscut shredding is effective! No taping this stuff back together. The safety switch actually works, if you pick the unit up by the handle, it kills power, so make sure to place it back completely in place or you'll wonder why it stops functioning.
