This is a review of the 24-page heavy duty shredder. I had a nice one that did about a dozen pages. After about 10 years it finally died. I replaced it with an Amazon one that lasted about 9 months.. I literally got tired of it jamming so I threw it out - literally. I bought this 24page monster for a lot of money to replace it. I’m glad I did. It is VERY heavy, and top heavy at that. Once in place, I used it for shredding lots of papers I had plus all the junk mail we get. It takes an entire Lands End catalog and Walmart brochures without a sweat. Feeding a dozen or two pagers into it at once, the motor never slowed or sounded like it was bogged down. It’s very quiet in operation. The unit has a fan that runs once it starts shredding too. I really like this machine and I’m glad I spent the extra money on it. The only negative is that the unit doesn’t “auto start”. You have to turn the power on (or, leaving the power on, push the On button). Not a huge issue at all, but every other shredder basically has “slide a page into the slot and it starts shredding”. I should mention that the slot is wide enough that you can get a bunch of pager in the ‘area’ of the slot and it starts feeding and shredding. My last Amazon shredder required much more direct precision for paper feeding. This unit is heavy and expensive. It’s also quiet and shreds the crap out of 20+ pagers at a time, no kidding. It’s the real deal.

We have only had the shredder a couple of months. We use it for normal household shredding, yesterday when shredding it just stopped. Green light lit but no noise. Its not jammed We cleaned the sensor still nothing.

I had no problem so far with this great shredder and it cut everything very small and I love the auto feed that let me do up to 100 pages it nice that I can shred and be quick about it and not have to do it 1 page at time.

Compared to my previous stack feed paper shredder this works like a charm. Regardless of that anyone tell you to reduce misfeeds you must remove staples from multiple pages if using stacker. It is also very important to shuffle the paper to reduce static attraction between paper sheets which could feeder to clog. So, if paper stack is statically attracted as a pile you will fail. So do not blame it on the shutter. Also be aware of paper of different thicknesses and when paper has been folded try reversing the sheets, reordering the sheets back-to-back to reduce feeding issues. My previous Swingline stack (100) sheet feeder never worked anywhere near how well this shredder has worked for me. This shredder has worked so good for me I brought another one. However, if you are too lazy to shuffle and reverse pages when the paper is folded to reduce static attraction sticking you may be disappointed. Another big advantage of the crosscut shredder is it reduced volume of collection in the waste basket.

Giving 5 stars but with some qualifications - I have put the shredder through heavy use for a week as part of a file cleanup - the front slot says 8 pages max and I think 5-6 is more what it can handle for a sustained time without overheating. The back slot does not work with anything near 100 pages...in my personal experience. I find it works best using just the smaller front slot and putting 5-6 pages through at a time. The shredder overheats about every 15 minutes of constant use. This would be the perfect shredder for a home office where it is used on a weekly basis with mail - I would have looked into a stronger shredder in hindsight for my project of shredding many bankers boxes of documents. The shred size is p-4 (I did not even know there were ratings until recently) - the bits are microscopic - I can't imagine needing smaller for personal use.
