I got these for a Christmas gift. I got 8 starters, all of which had good root systems already developing, 7 of which made it past the planting stage, and all of those 7 were sprouting strong, healthy greenery just a week or so after being planted in their pots. Three weeks after receiving them, all 7 are firming up their potted roots, and sprouting even more new leaves. If they don't make it after this, it's all on me. I'm going to have to learn about exactly how one goes about all the trimming, wiring, and pruning involved ('ve already read that the weeping variety DOES NOT like wiring), but this little set has given me a great start, and I hope I can do them eventual justice. Really happy with this gift, and--considering what these might turn out to be, and all the enjoyment I foresee in tending them--I think it's a great investment for the price. ... show more

I did exactly what I was told. Put them in 2” of water and put the stalk in. It was in a clear glass. After one week the slowly started to grow roots and new branches. I love them. Will purchase more. Thanks

They arrived during a massive snowstorm, but they were wet not frozen, put directly into water for a month to root, I could have planted them sooner but I wanted to make sure they had a few good roots. All 12 are doing great! Which is way more than I oredered lol! Lots of leaves and growing fast

This is the second time I’ve ordered cuttings from this company. I’m not sure what I did wrong. The first time I ordered 50 hybrid willows and within weeks all of them died. All of them looked great when I ordered. They even sent me extras. I followed the directions exactly. They started growing great! Within a few weeks, the stems started turning black and they all died. This time I ordered this bundle. They sent extras on this one too (much appreciated). Once again, stems are turning black and several of the cuttings have died. Not sure what I’m doing wrong… ... show more

Love the thick large bare root. They come with 2 per type, so you receive 6 cuts. I put them in water, now 6 weeks later. All but 2 cuttings have established a solid set of roots. The other 2, were very small and were black at the top. I would recommend. Just wish I didn't get 2 that are useless trees. UPDATE: I planted these Willows in a separate pot. 2 of the large trunks look dead. 1 is alive struggling. After moving them to soil, this happened. I am very disappointed. Not what I thought they would do. ... show more

I read the description and did not expect anything more than 3 barely rooted cuttings, boy was I disappointed! What I got is 3 moldy sticks that are just cuttings off a branch and 3 little twigs, with no roots on a single stick. They literally just cut 6" off a branch and wrapped a wet paper towel around the bottom. I might be able to get these to root, there is still some green in the bark. But if these do survive it will only be because I am a very experienced gardener who has made countless clones. I might be able to save them in spite of the poor quality product I was sold. Even if they do survive, these will never be beautiful Bonsai, just ugly scarred sticks with leaves, will plant outside. Maybe the twigs will become something in 20 years or so. These came packaged up really well - wrapped in wet towels to ensure that the sticks did not dry out during transport. Easy directions to follow and they are already growing 2-3 days after planting!

I am very excited by my purchase, and as you can see less than one month ago, my bare root bonsai trees arrived, I placed them in water for the first two weeks and planted them this past weekend. I use CZ green soil and a bunch of vermiculite and mixed a very soft soil and used orchid pots which drain really easily but allow you to water well every day as instructed. Continue to keep you updated, but you should know that following the directions allows you to be growing your own trees. Totally cool! ... show more
