Description

Now more than ever the Bodum French press system is the way of brewing coffee. It is pure and simple which is exactly the reason why coffee tasters use this method to determine the quality of coffee beans. The materials of the French press (glass and stainless steel) are completely taste-free so nothing comes between your ground coffee beans and the hot water. The French press literally generates no waste at all: no metal or plastic capsules, no paper, no nothing. You only boil as much water as you need and there you go. We all know plastic water bottles are an environmental problem, but have you thought about all those metal or plastic capsules left by other coffee machines? They generate more waste than espresso. With the Bodum French press it¹s just glass, water and coffee brewing doesn't get any purer.

  • Great very simple French Press
Size: 51-Ounce
I love French press coffee. This is a classic French press, in a 1.5L size, which is ideal for 2 people (the more common 1L size is too small for us). I like it because its just a glass carafe without the metal legs or carrier, which look nice but make for harder cleaning. This has a metal mesh screen, all the parts unscrew for easy cleaning. The handle occasionally loosens and needs to be tightened, which is easily done with a screwdrived. The carafe is a standard size, so can be replaced easily if broken. My only criticism (minor) is that the smaller 1L size comes (or used to come) with a cork base to sit it on, so the heat doesn't damage a counter, and this one does not. So I put it on a cork trivet instead - not a big deal. I use it every morning and it makes great coffee. ... show more

  • It gets the job done, but doesn't delight.
Size: 51-Ounce
I bought this to replace a nice purple Bodum Bean 51-ounce french press that I dropped an broke when I was on crutches after surgery. I wanted to stay with this larger size. I use this for brewing satisfyingly large amounts of custom blends of tea beverages that are a mixture of teas, herbs, elixirs and adaptogens. To be frank, I had mixed feelings about all the plastic in the way with the Bean press, and after an unsatisfying attempt to replace the Bean press I settled on this more classic design. Considering its simplicity, It seems numbingly overpriced, and it works about as well as any other press. Reducing it to 3 stars, for me, is the handle design. While it looks stylish, I find the handle to not be ergonomic in any way and I'd replace it with a better design in a heartbeat. This design deficiency is magnified by the greater weight of the filled 51-ounce flask - it's a minor challenge for me to hold it and pour it. A beefier design would work much better, at least for me. A replacement flask, (as has been mentioned), is easy to find and easy to swap in - a nice feature that will doubtless come in handy. ... show more

  • Simple, easy press makes great coffee!!!
Size: 12-Ounce
We have this Bodum french press for about six months now, and we absolutely love it!! It is so easy to put in the coffee grinds, water, let it steep and then press your coffee. I love that you can use any coffee grinds you like (we like Maxwell House Hazelnut) and we make awesome lattes with the concentrated coffee. The plunger can be unscrewed apart, so it's easy to wash really well. You can also wash it without taking it apart and it gets clean. I love that you don't need any other accessories, like filters, k-cups, etc - I don't even know what they're selling out there now. I am always scared the glass part will break - it is made of thin-ish glass (think of a beaker in a science lab) but in a house where we break about a dish a week, this one's still around!!! I would recommend this press to ALL coffee lovers! ... show more

  • Nearly Perfect
Size: 51-Ounce
This one is nearly perfect for the price. Two small niggling preferences. Looking at the lid from the top you can't tell where the pour strainer is, so I took a knife and made a notch on the top. Once you set the lid on a full carafe the dark coffee makes it almost impossible to see if you have the strainer aligned with the pour spout. The other problem is it is still not big enough. I have a large thermos carafe that will hold 68oz and last me about 3 days. I'm just lazy enough not to want to have to make coffee more frequently than that. Oh well... ... show more

  • BIG French Press
Size: 51-Ounce
This french Press makes a lot of coffee. The mechanism works well and the fact that it can go into my dishwasher is a bonus. I have a very old Bodum French press that was too small to serve our needs. The one thing that I like about it rather than the new one is the construction. On the new one there is too much plastic and the handle is less secure than my old one. I also appreciate the ceramic in the top of my old one which insulates the coffee to keep it warm. Yet, for our needs, this french press does just fine. ... show more

  • gets the job done
Size: 51-Ounce
it works! which is exactly what it is supposed to do. the handle seems like its going to break soon, and I feel like the mesh could be finer (lets very small grounds through that settle in the bottom of my cup) but I still get my morning coffee fix and for the price you cant beat the size.

  • Small French Press from the Original - 1 Cup
Size: 12-Ounce
I was expecting the 'pressure' that it would built up in the press brewing process to be greater. I am new to French Press Coffee. So Far it tastes great. I can tell some what of the addition of the Coffee Oils unlike before. It is great for the 1 cup needs. Clean up is easier with the small container and using running water soon after using. ... show more

  • Great large volume French PRess
Size: 51-Ounce
This French press is perfect for making more then enough coffee for larger groups. I had a smaller French press, the 8-cup and me and my roommates (2) always found ourselves needing to make an additional pot to satisfy our coffee appetites in the morning. Finally, I purchased this one and we have more than enough for the 3 of us. So much better than drip coffee, we can't drink anything else. Simple, solid design. Love this product. ... show more
