The French press Coffee system is what Bodum is most known for. We've produced millions of presses; we've added more designs, more sizes, more features like double wall glass and a lid that closes completely between pours. As far as we were concerned, we knew everything there was to know about the French press. So imagine our surprise when a customer tells us they've discovered the best way to make ice Coffee with a French press. We've tried it their way and we have to agree - it's fabulous. And simple - which fits our philosophy perfectly. So here's how it goes: first you put the ground Coffee in the jug as usual. Then you add cold water and put the jug in the fridge overnight. In the morning you press down the plunger - et voila - you have the most smooth tasting ice Coffee you can imagine. Enjoy it black or with milk and let yourself be surprised. The bean comes with two lids: one for the fridge overnight and one with a plunger to press down the Coffee grounds in the morning. The 1.5 L bean ice Coffee maker is made from plastic, silicone and stainless steel.

I had tried a couple types of cold brew coffee makers, and was about to give up until I found this one. I ordered one, and it I loved it. I now have two of them and rotate them so I always have cold brew coffee ready. I buy whatever decent coffee is on sale at the local grocery store, I've been going with the pre-ground ones, and it works so well. Just pour some ground coffee into the container, add cold water to just below the black liner top, stir with a spoon, and put in fridge with the flat top. Since I have two, once one is done, put in dishwasher and put the press lid on the next one. Then after the one in the dishwasher is clean, make the next batch. Always have coffee ready to be drank. I have four zero sugar syrups I mix with it and just add a little bit of milk and all set! This makes cold brew so easy to use and easy to clean.

Perfect. Easy to use, clean, and assemble. The strainer/press is great and keeps the majority of the grounds secure as you pour the coffee. The lid does not leak and locks in place. The coffee will not pour unless the lever is pressed. I don’t care much about the look of things as long as they are functional and this coffee maker is very functional. It looks exactly like the picture. I can adjust the strength of the brew with how much or how little coffee I add. Definitely worth the purchase. I have an expensive coffee maker that is supposed to make cold brew and I don’t use it because I prefer this one.

Almost gave it 1⭐ - but it has grown on me.

TL;DR - If the top were easier to press down, (imo, FLAT), I would give this 5 stars - ESPECIALLY for the price. Overall, despite my needy and specidic preferences, this gadget has OUTSTANDING VALUE. **Small irk - storage. The plunger lid, if not attached, is the most awkward thing to store. And if you store it attached, you can't stack the other lid on top because of the stupid ball (strike 2 against that design). BUT, I have all kinds of weird bulky gadgets and appliances, so...whatever. I concede on this one. Just worth noting. **Capacity/Size - great. I make a batch every other day or so and I'm satisfied with the holding capacity. And the size of the thing itself is fine - not too bulky on the counter or in the fridge. So...full disclosure on the 4 stars and ball top design? Here's my experience: I've been on a quest to find something to make my method of cold brew easier for a few months. I've landed on a strong ratio that makes it annoying to strain with cheesecloth or filters or fine mesh. I've also found it difficult and tedious to squeeze every last drop of concentrate out of my sludge by hand without making a massive mess or feeling like I'm losing valuable output. I've been wanting something like the Aeropress but that can do 1250-1500ml at a time - and I wasnt quite ready to spend MORE money on ANOTHER Aeropress (I have the basic travel plastic one). The first batch I made was a 1:2 ratio and I couldn't get a good grip on the knob of the press to get the pressure I wanted to extract all my concentrate. I was dead set on that concentrate. I've used every type of roast from light to espresso and all the grinds from med to full coarse and all the ratios between 1:2 and 1:10, and that one got me the flavor I was looking for. But after my first batch I almost returned this thing. That knob is the worst design and should really be a flat surface to press down on! Then I decided to alter my expectations and method and give it a fair chance...but I stewed about jumping on here and blasting the design and ranting. Then I realized that's not really helpful either. Eventually I gave up on my silly 1:2 ratio and have landed on anywhere between 1:4 and 1:8 which has made pressing down much less irritating. *But I still hate the ball top design.* It irritates me every time I have to awkwardly pinch it or wrap my palm around it. So, 4 stars.

Great concentrate!

I have been drinking ice coffee exclusively for about 15 years and buy whole beans and grind with a burr grinder. I had the queen of ice coffee makers (OXO) for many many years. It worked well even after my daughter knocked it off the counter and cracked the bottom part of the brewing container. After many years it has started to leak; the seals have worn away. I was looking for another iced coffee maker that could make about 32 Oz of dark concentrate iced coffee. I tried. Few of the infusion type available on Amazon and these type just can’t make concentrate no matter how long it is left to brew. If you want concentrate don’t bother with those. The water and coffee have to have a face to face meeting - anything else just doesn’t do the trick. Next I turned to French press style. I have always resisted this type due to my exp with hot brewing French press- ie super weak coffee. I bought this unit and after some exp I am pleasantly surprised and a bit delighted with it. I grind and fill it up with about 3 inches of coffee and leave it on the counter over night with the regular lid. Next day I put it in the fridge and let it set for another day. Then I switch the lids and press. I tried pouring it into another container at that point but there was too much coffee sludge. So now I leave it alone and just pour it from the press. No residue at all. When there is a few servings left I pour it out slowly into another container leaving the residue behind. It is easy to clean and I repeat the process. It makes a surprisingly large amount of concentrate and is actually easier to use than than the OXO and I use half the amount of coffee now to make just a bit less than I did with the OXO. It is a little big in the fridge so you need a wide space for it. I haven’t tried the other French press style ice coffee brewers so I cannot compare, but this one works great, is super inexpensive, uses less coffee grounds and is easy to clean. I highly recommend it.

Perfect for Cold Brew at a great price

This is my first go at making cold brew at home. I bought a mason jar with handle & spout (works great) with comes with a metal filter cone (not useful). At least with my well researched coffee:water ratio - and now limited practical experience - the cone will have coffee higher than the water you would use. And, it's a pain to get the grounds out afterwards. This french press works much, much better. First, you get more coffee to water contact. Why try to keep them apart? It's almost cruel. Second, should you choose you can really press the coffee out of the grounds to get every drop (you may get a little more sludge). Third, because it's got the widest of mouths it's the easiest dump out and clean. However, I DO recommend the mason jar handle/spout as a cool and practical container for the brew you will make from your concentrate. Just put the filter cone aside or put it on your coffee table as a conversation piece. It looks better than it works. I'm still working on perfection but here's what I've got so far. - 5.5oz course ground coffee. So far I like Eight O'Clock for value but I'll play the field. Dump grounds into french press. - Add 40oz clean water. Stir, cover. Leave for 24-36 hours with a good stir once or twice. I get noticeably better taste when I leave it out at room temp rather than "brewing" in the fridge. - Press the coffee. I get about 32oz of cold brew. I pour it into my mason/handle/spout thingamajig. Add 12oz clean water for approx 44oz (don't hold me to it). Shake and place in fridge. - Dump the grounds, rinse or wash it out. You be you.

It's sturdy as hell, easy to make coffee, it's not too large but just large enough, my coffee comes out perfect every time! I've had one for a few years and it's my favorite thing to use in the kitchen. I'm a cold brew FANATIC and this has been such a game changer; I make the cold brew the night before and just press it in the AM. 10/10!

Bought to use as a camping coffee maker and it has made its way into a lunchbox staple. I work EMS, sometimes for grueling days-long shifts and have had so many people ask about how I have the good coffee in the stylish container. I’m always so excited to talk about it and send them a link! Not affiliated in any way but I’ve had this large brewing capacity (literally holds a full pot), super durable (has been dropped/toted around for years), lightweight (literally weighs barely anything), easy to clean (just rinse it out), absolute beauty of a French press for 3 years now and it’s still like new. It’s been a life saver both in the woods and at the base/on the truck! It’s a gem I wouldn’t think of going without! If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate! I’d buy it again and highly recommend!
