Works great. The trick is to only put a pin hole in the end of the two liter bottle. The water lasts about 5 days. But this is a very thirsty plant, so yours might last longer. After reading lots of complaints about the flimsy cheapo ones, I decided to go with this one. Money well spent!

I was very skeptical at first but these really do work IF you pierce the bottle with a TINY TINY TINY hole. I have a very large plant and needed it to be adequately watered for a week while I was on vacation. At first, I made the hole in my bottle big enough for a straw and all the water very quickly emptied out within an hour. On my next attempt, I first watered my plant thoroughly and then placed the blumat bottle adapter into the plant using a large two liter soda bottle but this time I pierced the bottom of the bottle in three different spots using the tip of a safety pin! At first no water was draining into the plant but I realized that was because I had watered the plant first, so this adapter really does adjust the water flow based on the hydration need of the soil. The two liter bottle lasted for a week and my plant was very healthy and in great shape when I returned from vacation. The secret is to put just a TINY hole or two or three, depending on the size of your bottle. I use these in my plant all the time now so I don't need to worry about watering. Picked up a few sets of these when prepping to be away for several weeks. Used on plants both indoors and out. They do work - but you have to remember to punch a hole in the bottle you use or the water won't gradually drain (and make sure you have enough bottles on hand that fit these devices!). We put these in 2L soda bottles and put one in the corner of each large (1.5foot on a side) patio planter. Drilled one 1/4" hole on the bottle bottom. We move them around the planter corners every couple of days. These planters get full sun part of the day. The plants seem very happy and don't need any extra water. ... show more

These have been great! We got them after experiencing frustration with other products. We cut the bottom off of single-use water bottles then attached them to these and we just use the watering can to refill the bottles as needed. Clean and easy approach to watering.

These work wonderful! The bottle shown in my pictures are bottles I purchased on Amazon because I needed bigger bottles for my large planters. I use regular store bought bottled water bottles for my smaller planters. The adapters fit both, takes a little bit of arm power but they do fit. I’ve tested them out and you WILL have to place a tiny pin hole in the bottom of the bottle. Without the hole, the Amazon bottles didn’t drain at all and the water bottles drained almost halfway then collapsed and stopped. Once I placed the hole, the bottles watered my plants for almost 4 full days. I used a tiny nail and only made a small hole in the bottom of each bottle. Just be sure your plants are watered well before placing the bottles in the soil. I would be comfortable leaving my plants for 5 days with these bottles. ... show more
