  • Very good but you get what you pay for
Color: Black
For about 6-7 years, I've been using the LG Tone line of yolk-style bluetooth headphones. I've liked them all...until they break. Inevitably every single one of them breaks after about 1-2 years. Sometimes I submit an RMA and have them fixed/replaced, and other times I just buy a new model. Recently, my LG Tone Active A80 stopped working on one side and the vibration feature failed. While waiting for my $75 headphones to get fixed I decided to try out this $35 model. Here is my comparison: BUILD QUALITY The first thing I noticed is that the Amorno feels lower quality but not too much. The wires aren't as flexible, and the retracting mechanism is a push-button type instead of a "pull and release" kind. They do zip up super fast though. Overall, the plastic seems cheaper. But I haven't had them long enough to know if it lasts so the jury is still out. DESIGN The biggest problem I have with the Amorno is that it's huge. The A80 is actually smaller than most LG Tone models, but I loved that it did a great job at hiding under a shirt collar. The A80 could fit under every collar I have and nobody noticed I had them on until I pulled an earbud out. The Amorno sticks out of every single collar I have, and the ends are significantly thicker than the A80, and the earbuds don't fit back in their slots as cleanly. It would help if the silver design elements were black so they could blend in, but they really stand out. I don't like the design of the body of this thing. CONTROLS However, I DO like the design of the controls! They're far better than the LG Tone series. The Amorno can fit all the controls on one side of the headset, and combines a bunch of the controls that LG puts on there. Most LG Tone Models have FF, REW, Play/pause, answer call/digital assistant, volume up, volume down, power. That's 7 controls. The Amorno basically has three controls on it: play/pause, a slider, and power. The slider controls FF/REW if you quickly move it one side or the other, and changes the volume if you hold it one direction or the other. I wasn't sure how I'd like this but now I hope LG puts this in all of their headsets. Another thing I hope LG will pick up on is the power switch. The Amorno has an on/off sliding switch. The LG models have what feels like a Windows shutdown option with a button you have to hold down to turn the thing on or off. When I'm turning the headset off I have to hold that down for a long while until the voice says "power off." To be fair, I think the Amorno basically functions the same way, where sliding the power button doesn't actually cut power, just sends a signal to turn the headset off (because once you slide it you still get a voice indicator), but at least I know that I've moved a switch and it really feels like I'm cutting power to it. It's a better physical design, IMO. SOUND QUALITY This is actually the least important to me because I almost exclusively listen to podcasts, so it's not the biggest deal. That said, the Amorno doesn't sound nearly as good as the A80. Everything is a little muddier on the Amorno. I also wish I hadn't thrown away the ear bud back because the defaults are way too big for me, but that's my bad. FINAL THOUGHTS When I get my LG back from repairs...I'm going to go back to it. I just can't get over how big these MFers are. I look like a total dork wearing these things. Yolk-style headphones are pretty dorky-looking to begin with, but these things are huge, and at least I can hide the A80 under my collar so nobody knows I'm a dork (at least not because of that). I'm going to keep the Amorno around for two things: 1- as a temporary headset for when my LG models inevitably break 2- I'm going to try them out as headphones for my Apple TV, but I don't think they'll work through the wall... I'll end on a positive note for the Amorno: I love that they fold up. Absolutely love it. I can fit these in my pocket or in many other convenient places which were much more awkward for my A80. I don't think the foldability justifies the bulk of these things, but it's a wonderful feature. I should also note that, for $35, these are really good. The LG Tone series has always been pricey and prone to breaking. If the Amorno has at least the durability of the Tone series, $35 is a decent price, as $75-100 is way too much for something I have to replace every 1-2 years or get repaired all the time. $35 is exactly right for this headset. ... show more

  • Good Quality, Long Battery Life
Color: Black
I tried to use all of the features of the Amorno stereo wireless headset, but I'm not sure I've discovered all of them yet. The instructions that accompany the neckband headset are clearly written and easy to follow. There is a lot to remember, but should become easier with continued use. The Amorno stereo wireless headset has a foldable neckband making it convenient for travel. I found it connects easily via Bluetooth to my iPhone 8. When the headset is turned on, the battery/charge life is voice announced as well as successful connection. When a call is incoming, the call is announced by voice and states the calling phone number. The neckband also vibrates with an incoming call. The earbuds are retractable through use of a small button on the inside of the neckband. The wire from the ear bed to the neckband is approximately 7-1/2 inches long. The set comes with 3 sizes of earbud covers. Sound is extremely clear when listening to music from my iPhone. Volume is controlled by identified volume slide by holding in the up or down position. Reverse or advancing to songs is through a single up or down slide action on the volume control. A double push up on the volume slide initiates Siri on my iPhone. Some of the drawbacks I experienced: the earbuds became very uncomfortable with extended wear and the left earbud keeps falling out of my ear despite changing the size of cover. The wire from the earbud to the neckband is very thin, so care may need to be taken during extending/pulling the earbuds for use from the neckband as well as during retraction to protect the wire from breaking. I would think care would also need to be taken during extending the earbuds for use to ensure not pulled too far which might result in inability to retract the earbuds. A caller had difficulty hearing me on calls; however, I had no problem hearing the caller. With my iPhone volume set on full and the neckband volume to lowest setting, the sound was still a bit too loud for me in quiet conditions. The control buttons on the side of the neckband are quite small and will require memorization to ensure using the right button for the intended result. Several times I attempted to either turn down the volume or replay a song, only to accidentally push the on/off button instead turning the headset off. During a call, after having worn the earbuds for an extended time to listen to music, I became frustrated with the ear pain and had to resort to using my phone for the call instead of the headset. The material quality seems to be quite good and the sound clarity is terrific, however, the pain from extended (continuous wear for an hour or more) earbud wear will prevent me from using them for long music listening sessions. I will keep the ear buds in the extended mode and place in my ears for calls and short listening sessions. ... show more

  • Works great till it doesn't
Color: Black
I have had this Amorno set for 6 months and it worked as planned until about a week ago, Now it turns off and back on by itself even when I'm on the phone. I use it for talking to customers and suppliers as well as music. This is disappointing. Good news is, the arm didn't break like the 3 RoomyRoc head sets I bought, They either broke and one side was hanging or one speaker would go out. I had purchased the extended warranty they sell here but couldn't get anywhere with support so I don't recommend buying the extended plan. Actually, 6 years is pretty darn good. I'm changing mt rating. Greg ... show more
