I can't get a stencil to stay on by any means but drawing on my designs with sharpie does the trick. I stack two on top of each other because they're very thin. I'm a hobbyist, truthfully, and a novice. This is my second skin, the first was -not pictured- a skin that came with my machine. I want to get into tattooing as I find the craft to be beautiful. Anywho. The skin is a millimeter thick and even with a lighter hand you can see the individual strokes of the needles. My line work is shoddy, I admit, but damn. I had to pull my needle up higher to avoid tearing through to the other side of the skin. I was able to use both sides of the skin without too much bleed through. The ink hold is okay in comparison to the practice skin that came with my machine, but it is not easy to clean up. I managed with a rather heaping amount of vaseline and a paper towel while swiping and doing a sort of scooping motion. This skin feels nice to touch, but is rigid. You can stretch it a bit to make it become taunt while doing lines. I would buy again despite the gouging issue as it is something to practice on. Will it help me with depth control? I shall find out. Or at least my line work. I hope. ... show more

Bought these for my husband to practice on with his tattoo machine and they are perfect. Actually feel like the real skin and the tattoo machine glides on nicely making it the perfect practice skin. Very durable and thick so your needle doesn't go through it. Defiantly feel like the real thing. I love how many you get for the price. Will buy these from now on. ... show more

I started getting buyers regret right after ordering these. I have some from other brands that are horrible and completely unusable. At least with these you can clean the excess ink off. They take the ink well enough and are a good "cheap" practice skin. Yes they are thin. You need to be careful when using them, but they are usable and the tattoo will look good on it. For display skin's you might want to buy a quality brand like reelskin or pound of flesh, but for just practicing these are not horrible. ... show more

I’ve been wanting to learn how to tattoo for years. I bought this fake skin to practice pulling lines. It started out rough and I’m only 4 days in, but the skin seems great for line work. Go slow and be sure to hold it down (almost like you’re stretching real skin) especially near the edges. If you don’t hold it with your non tattooing hand it will flap towards the edges and your lines will get wonky. I’m still learning how to pack color but this stuff works great and wipes off nicely with Vaseline imo. ... show more
