My house faces South too, so sun is strong. I did a few windows like this, and hope to keep house cooler. I am sure it will help! Tip: product like this with one side gray or silver, is best. Grey / silver side on sun side, of course. Other products can be black on both sides, which is bad. Black absorbs heat, rather than reflect heat. Anyway, happy with purchase! East to cut and work great on my crane windows Velcro is strong

I knew these were going to take forever to put up. I made sure to get a size I did NOT have to cut. I didn't want to cut them and have them crooked because I know that's what would've happened. I started by trying to use the velcro dots that came with it and I HATED them. They're too small for how much fabric there is and how big my porch windows are. Peeling and placing them was not fun either. I am so glad I bought 30 foot rolls of velcro to use with these (still had some left over for computer wires and stuff, too). I did 4 very large windows with these. The rolls of velcro helped cut the time down significantly. If I would've used their dots, I would've had fabric flapping and drafts coming through them. I wanted them completely secure. Not only that but the dots that come with these aren't secure in the packaging and get stuck together making it very hard to pull them apart. So do yourself a favor and buy a roll of velcro. The positive side: these are blackout! There is no light coming in at all! And since i have velcro throughout the top, bottom and sides, there is no cold air coming through my indoor porch windows either. The warmth is being kept in by these window covers and a magnetic door cover i bought to go with these. They look really good over my windows. I had plastic over these windows the last few winters and the plastic sounds horrible when the wind blows (when i work on my porch i swear work calls could hear the plastic moving in the background... embarrassing). I do wish I ironed them before putting them up. You can still see where they were folded even though they are pulled flat and secured with velcro around all edges. Maybe in the summer the heat will get rid of those. I do love them, though. They were worth the 13 bucks x 4 that i paid for them. Window plastic doesn't last nearly as long and looks dingy after a while. You also get the plastic noise, which i do not like. I would give 5 stars if I had enough velcro to go around this big panel of fabric and window. But i am kind of glad I bought my own rolls so I could secure all around instead of spots. With it being velcro, you can also take it off when the weather is nice... if you want to!

I cut the cover to size for two windows in my bedroom, applied the velcro and hook and loop per instructions. My bedroom is on the east side of the house and I would wake up as soon as the sun rose or if neighbors turned on extra lights. The panels works great and my sleep has improved (tried sleep masks but never could get used to them). Have not attempted to remove any of the covers to see how well they could be removed and re attached, yet as I am so happy about being able to sleep without the light coming through the window that I may just leave it on and never remove.

These work pretty good but I still find myself putting tape around the edges to make sure they are 100% blackout. Also, the silver back look a little strange when we see our windows from the outside. My wife doesn’t like that look but I don’t mind.
