I have a window directly behind the head of my bed that I really need a blackout shade on, and for several years now I've used the paper accordion shades you can cut to fit. I finally got tired of having to replace it occasionally and decided to try something different. The 36" size fit my window pretty well (I put it inside, not on the outer frame) so no need for cutting, which was nice. It's been up for a couple weeks now with no issue so the adhesion seems decent. Most importantly, it blocks the light really well. I have blackout drapes on the window as well, but even if I didn't I don't think any light would leak through. The clips included were a little large I think, but my window is a bit shallow. I also hardly ever open it so I probably won't need them. I don't think this shade would be as useful on a window you want to open often. But for me, this was a really good buy.

I live in an apartment with older blinds that don't close tight. I used double sided silicone tape on the wall and this thing clings perfectly. I also use little magnets on the sides to give it a tighter seal so I can sleep later on my day off

I needed something to block out the sunlight from the little window at the top of my front door so I didn't have a glare on my tv during the day. This little thing works perfectly. Only took about 30 seconds to attach it to the top of the window.

I work night shift at the hospital and these have come in soooo handy to sleep during the day. It has helped my sleep so much as it dims the light so well. The curtains keep my room cool and it was the perfect fit for my windows. Very inexpensive and easy to install with the Velcro. I can roll them up if I want some light to come through. Highly recommend to those who work the night shift.

I needed a quick solution to block out light, so I ordered this with one-day shipping. Does it actually blackout my windows? Yes, the fabric itself is light-tight, and I don’t see any light coming through. But I didn’t realize what a hassle trimming it to size would be. Cutting the width? You’ll end up slicing through the rod pocket seam, leaving it exposed and prone to tearing. Adjusting the length? You have to choose between cutting the rod pocket side or the velcro side, neither of which is ideal. I’m not sure why they market this as “trimmable length, trimmable width” because it’s definitely not designed for easy customization. Also, despite ironing as directed—on the non-silver side—the crease from the packaging still wouldn’t come out. I tried a higher temperature, and surprise, I melted the fabric. Luckily, I tested on a section I planned to cut off anyway. Since I already had to break out the sewing machine to reinforce the cut seam, I ended up cutting off the velcro side and sewing my own pocket for tension rods, while keeping the original rod pockets for the included rods. Trimming the rods was another challenge; they have elastic and wires inside, so I couldn’t just cut through. Instead, I had to trim around the rod and push the endcap through. I wouldn’t buy this again and don’t think the two hours I spent ironing, measuring, trimming, and sewing were worth it. But I had to work with what I had in my limited timeframe. It does feel a bit pricey for what it is, though I’m not sure how much this type of plastic-like fabric usually costs. I would’ve given it five stars for light-blocking, but the misleading “trimmable” claim is disappointing. That said, it’s still cheaper than blackout shades, so take that for what it’s worth.

Do not buy it if you love your lungs!! Yes, it blocks the light. But it smells like a gas station. I put them outside for around 48 hours and washed it in the machine, but smell didn't go away. I bought it to use in my baby's room, but the smell was so disturbing that we had to take the curtains down in the middle of the night while my baby was sleeping, because of the smell.

It works pretty well for blackout, but the back side (the faces the window) is an ugly silver/foil that just looks tacky from the outside. I will be taking these down as soon as possible. It also has a disgusting smell that I can’t get rid of. If you don’t mind those flaws, then this product is for you.
