This product is neither a blackout curtain nor is it a window blind. It's basically a big sheet of plastic that you can cut to size. And it's not particularly attractive when it's installed -- it just looks like you hung a sheet over your window. That said, this product is great functionally. It does exactly what it claims to do -- it blocks light from entering a window. It's easy to cut to size (be sure to leave a little extra on the edges), and also easy to hang (using the included Velcro tabs). A really big plus is that it can be cut to fit odd-shaped windows. (Personally, I haven't needed it. My window is traditional rectangle, but I can see where this would be useful in light-proofing oddball windows.) Another big plus is that it's portable -- again, I haven't needed this as I'm working strictly at home. But for travelers who need to light-proof their temporary sleeping quarters, this is a terrific feature! (It also comes with its own handy travel bag.) Again, don't be misled by the product description -- it's not a curtain, it's not a blind, and it's not a shade. It's a big sheet of plastic. But it *is* a convenient and extremely effective way of temporarily darkening a room.

Got this blackout curtain for my garage so I could use my golf simulator throughout the day. My garage has plenty of windows and lets lots of light in. You can cut this out and custom fit to whatever you need. The velcro accessory allows you to take off/on as needed. It definitely blocks the light out and even keeps it cooler in my garage. Definitely recommend if you need something to cover your window or for a home project!

I bought this portable blackout shade for our summer rental at the Jersey Shore. My grandson is still a baby and we're concerned that his early bedtime and the longer summer days would be a problem in his temporary bedroom. I gave it a try here at home, and I'm very pleased with the results. At home, I was able to block the light from our patio doors--the curtain fit perfectly. I will be able to customize the fit once we get to the rental and see the size of the window. The curtain is perfectly dense and will be easy to cut, and I think it is a great, inexpensive solution to our problem. One thing I have to say--even though the listing says that the hook and loop strips won't "leave residue" I was not going to take a chance that they would take the paint off my door, and I won't take a chance in a rental, either. I used regular Command strips to put it up and take it down, and they worked perfectly.

I have a lot of sensitivity to light, so I often do not get good, restful sleep, especially in the summer when days are longer. I have tried eye masks, but they mostly bother me: either my eyes don't have enough space or the attachment interferes with my hair/head. At first I thought this is just a big piece of black plastic, but this piece is going to cover any window for me. I tested it with several types of lights and nothing comes through. I probably will end up cutting it into parts,. First I have been trying in places where I can hang over an existing curtain rod and this works great. Because I travel a lot and most of the places do not have enough darkening, I wanted to have this to take, so I have been reluctant to cut as I won't know what size windows I will be encountering. Have been uncomfortable attaching the velcro loop-and-hook strips because of the adhesive which seems to separate. I was thinking about leaving the strips up in one circumstance, but would have preferred the wall or window side of the strip to be either white or silver colored to blend in better if I am going to leave it up, say in my bedroom. I suggest offering a second color for the surface to be attached to. I like the convenient carrying bag and the very long, flat tape measure included.

For someone reason my grandsons room is super hotter than any of the other upstair rooms so I ordered this in an attempt to help cool it down. As a black out curtain,’it didn’t do too well. It blacked out the room but did nothing for the heat. He kept it up anyways. They are decently made and super simple to out uses Velcro strips. Wasn’t super happy about this as the strips have a strong adhesive hold and I suspect trying to remove them would cause paint to peel off well. They’re okay if you just want a darker room.

The adhesion was a bit tough but we added some glue to help hold. Extremely dark which is fantastic. You can cut to desired size so that's a huge plus.

I live in the forest and have large sliding glass doors in the main living area of my home - in the fall, winter, and spring they provide beautiful views. However, in the summertime - they let in so much sun and heat, and I am not a fan. This blackout curtain is the perfect solution to this problem of mine. First off, it's a breeze to install. Included is 16 sets of velcro - I simply attached one side to the metal frame of the sliding door and then held up the curtain and attached the other side to the curtain. The curtain can be cut without any issues - there's no fraying or ripping when cut. I love, love, love that this curtain can be put up and taken down since I will just be using it for when the sun is blaring inside my home. This curtain keeps out the sun - it is solid and not allowing any light through. It also comes with a handy storage bag that it can be stored in when summer is over. For the price point, you can't go wrong if looking for a solution to temporarily blacking out a room. I am so happy with mine!

This came with a nice handy travel bag, Velcro strips and measuring tape. It was very easy to measure and install on my bedroom window. In all it took me about 30 minutes for one window. I could easily trim the curtain down, which is basically a large polyester sheet, to my window frame size. After installation there is light coming through -- which the only reason why we have light is because we put this over our blinds so that the outside see the pretty blinds instead of the blackout curtain. The material is not as thick as other blackout curtains we have on other windows but it still works as needed. This has the super large sheet so this one is great because it could be used for multiple windows.
