This isn't a bad box for what it is. The deal-breaker is neither the manufacturer/seller, or any locksmith operation is able to produce blanks, etc., to cut duplicate keys. If you are happy with just two keys, then it is an ok box. The box requires additional support if you mount it to anything without a solid base; e.g., trailer tongue. The aluminum is very thin material. I would never spend the money to re-key/rework the lock given the build on the box. It is not a Knaack, etc. It is fine for putting strapping/tiedowns into for individual hauling. ... show more

Seems to be very sturdy and well-made. The construction seems as though it will hold up as long as the metal does not rust anywhere. The gas struts are pretty heavy duty and definitely open/hold the lid up. The handles tucked in nicely and seem to be sturdy as well. Lock appears it will keep some thieves away, but somebody committed would probably easily drill/bypass the lock mechanism to gain entry. To put on a trailer and hold a jack and some tiedowns. I am not too concerned. I only con is the weather seal. As you can clearly see in the pictures and description there is a rubber weatherstrip across the entire lid that is supposed to make contact with the bottom one closed. There’s about a half inch gap one fully latched and it does not make any contact whatsoever. There is enough of your lip to cover the gap and a rain would probably not get in. Definitely would not consider it waterproof if you were power, washing a trailer or potentially any heavy rain while driving 70 mph down the highway (water moving across it’s sides), I would be afraid of water entry. I will try to buy half inch rubber weatherstrip and adhere to it to see if that closest the gap it should be fine. it’s best I can see a quick glance. There’s no way to adjust the hinges of latch to make it seat deeper. UPDATE 7/2023: Less than a year old and major rust. Where’s the aluminum? Apparently not the handles! And the lock is useless. After using it realized you can merely use bare hand and push in on the front wall near the lock and bend it past the latch to open without a key or even turning the latch pull. Unfortunately opens so easy it popped open a few times on the hwy and we had to stop and bungee it to hold shut. ... show more

I bought this to use as a trunk for my golf cart. The size is a perfect fit for the back seat area when folded flat for use as a "truck" when not used to seat people. It's light enough to be able to lift on and off the back of the cart and sturdy enough to last a long time.
