This thermostat was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a really simple Wifi capable thermostat that I could control and monitor remotely for a house which sits vacant most of the winter. I also wanted a thermostat that would issue a smartphone alarm if the temperature drops below a certain threshold so I wouldn't have to worry about pipes bursting while no one is in the house. I didn't want any fancy virtual controls or smart display on the thermostat. I just wanted simple up/down buttons to turn the temperature up and down, and nothing beyond that. This thermostat fit that bill perfectly. I would have given the thermostat a 5-star review except the tech support and users manual are horrible. The struggle I had with the thermostat was connecting it to Wifi. The first picture I attached is the users manual. The users manual provides no guidance for connecting the thermostat to the Wifi. It simply says to download the app, and follow the directions in the app. The instructions in the app are equally bad, or worse then the instruction manual. I reached out to the manufacturer of this thermostat (not Black and Decker...its actually CT Nova Tech), but they never returned my message. I was on the verge of returning this thermostat to Amazon for a refund since it was useless to me without the Wifi interface. I'm glad I didn't but B&D/CT Nova Tech need to up their tech support game if they want this product to survive. After downloading the app, I discovered that it is less user-friendly than the users manual. The exact model is not an option in the app, and thermostats are found hidden deep underneath the "Small Home Appliance" menu option. In the second photo I have circled the options you must select to enable Wifi on this thermostat, since there are no instructions to guide you here. When you select this thermostat, the next screen is not a picture of a thermostat (third picture), and the instructions are seemingly irrelevant for this thermostat. The instructions say to press the reset button and hold for 5 seconds. But there is no reset button on this thermostat. In the final photo, I have circled the button you must press for 5 seconds to connect the thermostat to wifi. There is really a lot of room for improvement all around on the documentation for this device. So in summary, this thermostat is perfect if you are looking for a super-simple, Wifi enabled thermostat. It will do everything you need it to do, and went beyond my original expectations for something at this price point. Just be warned that you won't be able to rely on the documentation, the app, nor tech support to guide you in setting up the Wifi interface.

While this looks like a nice thermostat, for our heat pump system, it only turns on heat. It is a standard system and has been no issue with all our other thermostats. I got a similarly priced one from the Vine brand and that one works well. It is a shame, because I like the look and brand of this one more.

The best thermostat I have ever purchased and it works great so easy to use my phone to control the temps in my house. I am sold and if I buy another house it will have another Black and Decker thermostat in it right away.

This "BLACK+DECKER Wi-Fi Thermostat (PLUS model)" is a pleasure to install and start using. I am using this to replace a Honeywell Z-wave Thermostat that I had, for maybe 10 years, that I had paid a lot more money for. It only took me about 15-30min to get this installed, and I appreciate the extra "wall plate" it came with that conveniently cover any original/old unit's footprint on your wall. I liked the simple, and elegant design of this "Thermostat PLUS" unit. You DO need to get the "Black+Decker HOME" app in order to use programming/scheduling features tho (I didn't bother to figure out if it can be done with the simple 4 buttons interface on the unit tho; I don't expect that you can easily achieve such complex task with those buttons). Once you got the APP, and followed the instructions to connect to the thermostat, setting it up is not too difficult. There are still a few things in the app that kind of bugged me, such as needing to individually setup each of the day of the week (instead of having them grouped), having fixed 6 periods per day (not be able to remove some), and not being able to edit the names of the periods etc.. Also, not having any vacation mode etc.. (so if one have to go on a vacation, he/she basically need to go and fiddle around with the complete schedule; and then change them back to normal after the vacation). Also, please aware that this thermostat is only a "connected" and "automation ready" thermostat, but it is NOT a "smart" thermostat; hence, it does not have the "smarts" in it to detect whether you are home or not, or learn your behaviors and automatically adjust itself for you (for some, features like those may be a preference, but for others, those may be annoying). So, if you want any automation or smart controlling or voice controlling etc.. you would need to go thru something like Alexa or Google Assistant. And you basically have to "figure out" yourself exactly what you want to do with other smart home sensors using environment/mood/schemes settings. Lastly, I think the cost of this thermostat is very much ok, it is actually much cheaper than my old one, and it is wifi-enabled, plus it is automation ready (compatible with Alexa and Google). Yet, it is not too much cheaper than some real "smart" thermostats out there (like Nest, if those are what you preferred).
