I used this to mix pastry dough. It's easy to use and clean. It does an amazing job for the price! It doesn't smoke or smell, and it stays together while mixing, unlike other cheap mixers I've tried. The speeds are a bit fast, but I wasn't expecting much. My only issue is that it doesn't easily get into the dough and kicks-up flour. I'd recommend a rubber mixing top/cover for the bowl if using this mixer. Keep in mind while buying that it is a $15 mixer, it gets the job done for simple doughs. ... show more

There was absolutely nothing wrong with my 20 year old mixer. The only reason I replaced it was that it was looking a little old. Went with this option over others based on name recognition. Just shy of two years, the motor burned out. The hand mixer this replaced lasted 10 years from the local grocery store. Even at its best, there wasn't much difference in the speed settings; everything seemed to go from high to highest. Additionally the beaters started to rust within the first year.
