This solution worked well to clean up food messes and a couple of secret cat throw up spots arount the house. I always use baking soda on most moist messes before I steam clean, so the usually isn't strong smells in the first place. But after using this in my living room and hallway, the entire area smelled like a weird mix of chemicals and vinegar for a couple of hours. It wasn't pleasant. I rented a high-end "luxury apartment" where the previous tenant had a dog that had routinely urinated on the carpet in three specific places (determined by old-fashioned smell test). Despite the carpet looking new, it stunk to high heaven where the dog had been urinating, and the landlord refused to replace the carpet, and said their "professional cleaning" was the best they could do. I used this product with my own Bissell machine. In addition to using the product as directed, I also injected it directly underneath the carpet and into the padding by using a meat tenderizer injector syringe similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/Injector-Plastic-Marinade-Syringe-Download/dp/B081JQH89T . It took three treatments, but the product DID eliminate the smell, so I am pleased with the results. ... show more
