  • So much better than Vevor! Adjustable dial is awesome!
I initially bought a Vevor and it was horrible! I couldn't get dies to even go through that machine. It was too tight. I fought to get my money back. Then I purchased this Bira machine instead. Yes - the Bira machine is significantly more money, but the difference in operation is huge. I love the adjustable dial. No need for shims. Just move the dial to get the thickness perfect for your die or embossing folder. Genius! I also love the cutting mat. It's way better than those acrylic mats that come with other machines. The extra storage inside each foldable flap is an added bonus. And it's super easy to remove and install the handle. This saves storage space, because the machine will fit better into a smaller space with the handle removed. I love this machine! ... show more

  • SO FAR, SO GOOD
Update: 2023 08 06: I AM STILL LOVING MY BIRA. It CUTS EVERY TIME; FIRST TIME, and NO SANDWICHING PROBLEMS AT ALL. THE TENSION ADJUSTING KNOB IS THE MAGIC FACTOR HERE. CAN'T BELIEVE NONE OF THE "BIG BRANDS" DIDN'T THINK OF THIS BEFORE. THIS IS AWESOME!!! With LOTS of cutting running through it ... one TINY TINY die, or MANY dies, the cutting plate HAS NOT WARPED AT ALL! ALL MY other die cut machines are on the brink of thrift store drops!!! WHEN BIRA WORKS THIS WELL, YOU WON'T NEED ANOTHER MACHINE IN YOUR ARSENAL! I am falling in love with this Bira every time I use it. I love the fact that the tension is adjustable, you DON'T have a BUNCH of SANDWICHING to figure out, and the cutting plate itself, SO FAR, has not shown any major warping. I'll take this over the spendy electronic ones any day. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER FOR ME, and I love using my dies now!! ... show more

  • Worked amazingly, until it didn’t.
The media could not be loaded. I have experience with embossing/die machines. When I began to wonder if there was anything less hassle than all the shims I had to use, I looked for something else. I am familiar with Bira Craft because of their punches, so I thought I’d give it a try. I was so excited about the dials for pressure and different items, and at first, I absolutely loved it. It was so easy to use. And then, right after the one month mark, it became incredibly difficult to use. It wouldn’t grab the sandwich, but if I loaded any more to it, it wouldn’t budge. I reached out to the company and over the course of nearly two weeks, they tried to problem solve. They blamed me for using a Sizzix plate when that was my last answer to them - that even when I used other plates, it didn’t work. So I had 32 days of amazing and now it’s useless. Be aware that they will not give you any customer support. ... show more

  • Nice 9"
Not a bad machine. First all let me start by saying I have a little Sizzex die cut machine that has a 2.5 - 3.5" opening. Very small. I could have easily bought the bigger 6" or 9" version from Sizzex but decided to go with the Bira 9" for the fact that I didn't want to limit myself to the size of dies I can use. I like my little Sizzex but the plates are all plastic and are constantly popping. With this Bira the platform is a thick plastic and heavy while the mat is kind of like a rubber like the sewing cutting mats. The machine is quite heavy. To me it weighs more than a gallon of milk. The handle and storage is nice additions. Although the handle is easy to remove it's not something that will just fall off. It took me a minute to figure out there is a button on the inside that you have to push up to attach to the machine. I'm still getting used to this machine, I might add. I am however finding a issue with my die cuts in the middle of the machine actually making the complete cut. I"m using thinlets and I would assume not much pressure is needed for these so I have it at 0 but I might have to increase this and hope it doesn't damage my dies. Overall, it's cheaper than the Sizzex machines and to me it has more functionality and I love the fact it folds up unlike the Sizzex Pro. ... show more

  • Glad I took a chance!
I spent weeks reading and watching reviews on the different die-cutting machines out there after my original cricut became obsolete. I decided to go with a manual machine this time. Even though the physical dies tend to be more expensive than digital kits, I wanted the ability to flat emboss (without a bunch of complicated steps), and the embossing folders are not very expensive at all. I have not used any other manual machines to compare with, but I am very happy I chose this one for three reasons. 1) The mode knob. I've been using my Bira Craft pretty frequently for three weeks now and I love that the different modes are changed right on the machine instead of building different "sandwiches" like I see crafters doing in videos. Whether I'm cutting or embossing, I use the same single cutting mat and single platform; I just turn the knob to change the rollers. Though my cutting mat is developing a slight curve, I don't notice it affecting the cuts, and the super-heavy-duty platform for etched dies is still rock solid flat. If I were using the thinner platform for steel rule dies, it might warp like the ones I see being used with the other machines. The only drawback to turning knobs instead of building sandwiches is that you might forget to turn your switch, though it becomes pretty apparent once you get cranking if you're in the wrong setting. 2) The depth knob. Most dies cut just fine on the 0 setting, but I have two so far that need to be tightened up in order to get every little section cut all the way through. I try tighter and tighter settings until I get a clean cut, then write on the back of the die with a sharpie so I know for next time. Also, if I want to cut craft foam, or use some craft foam as an embossing pad, I can keep it on the die cut setting, but adjust it looser so my foam doesn't get too squished. I have not tried it yet, but I suspect the looser setting might come in handy if I want to cut through adhesive paper, but not through the backing sheet. Also, I have read reviews in which other machines' rollers get loose over time. I feel that if this happens to my machine, I will be able to adjust the tightness knob to extend its operating life. 3) Finally, I love that this beast is quite heavy and shifts around NOT AT ALL on it's little rubber feet while I'm using it, but can fold up neatly and even store its own handle out of the way when I'm not using it. All in all, I'm very happy with this machine, and manual die-cutting and embossing have already been an even bigger and more versatile addition to my scrapbooking, card-making, and gel-plate printing than I had hoped! Tips! If you're new to die-cutting like me, you can find lots of great ideas on youtube. My favorite is that a single dryer sheet folded in half (other people use other numbers of layers) under my paper grabs the little garbage bits as beautifully as a tacky cricut mat, but releases them way easier, or you can just throw it away. Having the bits held in place on the dryer sheet can even make them useful for other techniques. Also, rubbing the top of the paper with a scrap of waxed paper before cutting (some people cut the wax paper along with the card stock) allows the die to release the paper so you don't have to poke everything out with a piercer. These two techniques together have saved massive amounts of time otherwise spent separating embellishment from die and garbage from embellishment, and saved money I might otherwise have spent on specialized tools for that purpose. ... show more
