I bought them for some random video recordings here and there but after a day of wearing them I realized I needed to use these all the time. I thought the AI stuff would be gimmicky but it’s helped a lot from identifying how to care for vegetable plants to helping me keep mites and records for work stuff. Taking photos and videos is super easy. I didn’t think it would make a difference from me pulling my phone out to take a photo or just using the glasses but it has made a huge impact. It’s only a few seconds but the convenience is def there. I don’t find them heavy on my face and they fit pretty well. Only thing would be after a few hours of wearing them, behind my left ear hurts a bit from where the glasses are sitting. I just have to adjust slightly. Battery life does not match what’s advertised but I kinda figured that when buying them. I’m sure the advertised battery life will be correct if you didn’t use any of the functions of the glasses. I did purchase a aftermarket accessory for the battery that is a must have in my opinion if you plan on using these daily and for long amounts of time. The stick/clip onto the glasses where you can add a tiny battery to charge the glasses while wearing and I don’t even notice any extra weight. The transitions are great. For me they transition fine. They don’t get super dark but I don’t mind.

TLDR: a good looking, expensive, slightly-functional-in-low-sun pair of analog sunglasses, with many creative ways to distract and annoy you. I’ve been using them for a month while traveling, mostly just to capture insta stories. Was really stoked for these. As of Gen 2 they’re still super buggy tho. I wanted them to work so badly. I get random unexplained notifications and alert sounds when I’m just sitting there doing nothing. They randomly starts playing music for no reason when I’m talking to somebody. Seems like the camera button is completely non responsive right when I actually need it. Green white and blue lights pop up and flash inexplicably at random times for no reason along with audio tones in my ear which is distracting. Why?? Also frequently stops recording for no reason a few seconds into a video. I have deleted and repaired many times. Tried turning on and off every slider in the app. Used the physical switch. Done the hard reset with camera button. Wanted them to work so bad that I have spent way too much time researching and massing with them. On the bright side, I like the way they look, and the transition lenses are cool (altho not very dark in direct sun). Overall: A neat idea, just not fully developed yet. As dysfunctional as they’ve been, I’ll probably still try Gen 3&4 etc. I keep hoping they’ll drop an update that fixes everything. Metas AI is also way behind other ai apps in terms of replies. If you are used to Gemini or Chat, you’ll get some laughs out of the Meta replies. Ot can’t even help solve problems with Meta’s own glasses. Maybe I got a lemon? I’m traveling for a few more weeks. Probably try to return these when I get home. Update 3/28: complete lack of warranty support from ray ban. Emailed. They approved the warranty. Two weeks have passed, and still no return label. I’ve emailed them. Chatted with an agent. They must be really struggling there. Probably swamped with warranty returns on these. I’m close to just tossing the glasses in the garbage and moving on.

I bought these Meta glasses mainly for creating videos on the go, and they have been incredibly convenient. I love being able to capture hands-free footage while driving, shopping, traveling, or filming product content without constantly setting up my phone and tripod. The video quality is surprisingly good, especially in bright daylight or well-lit environments. I’m still exploring all of the features, but for content creation alone they have been worth it. The only downsides I’ve noticed are the battery life, which lasts only a few hours before needing a recharge, and the fact that some features show as unavailable even though I’m located in Texas. I’m not sure if that’s a software issue or a regional restriction. That said, the charging case makes recharging simple and convenient. I just place the glasses back in the case and they’re ready to go again. If you’re looking for an easy way to create POV content without carrying extra equipment, these glasses are a great option. Just keep in mind that, like most cameras, the better the lighting, the better the video quality will be.

I bought the transition lens today for my son who just had cataract surgery this month. Delivery came pretty quick the same day. However, there’s nothing transition about the lens. They are still clear even in the sun. What a ripoff and false advertisement. I want my money back because I could have bought the regular ones if the lens were not going to transition as advertised and saved a few dollars. Do better!
