Editing to add another star and more comments. The first review was for a medium which was too tight. Even though I wear a size 9 1/2 shoe on my left foot, my right foot is much wider and has has two surgeries. So, large it is. The new large one fits better, and I've become more adept at the straps. I do think a better design would be specific for right foot vs. left foot and rolling in vs. rolling out. The product will work in all four situations but you've got to wrap the straps differently for each situation, which is, I think, the reason for all the maddening Velcro that grab each other and won't let go. However, once it's on, it feels good and I don't have to take it off except to shower. I feel so, so much better. I should have done this years ago. ____________________________ I've been needing an ankle brace for years, but didn't realize it. My right ankle rolls inward, it is very painful, has caused a bunion that required surgery, but, while the surgery cured the bunion, it made my foot stability much worse. Doctors did not want to give me an ankle brace, because I have diabetes, but finally, I said "enough, I can't take this anymore". Started researching, looking for a brace that would not cause abrasions. I just started wearing the TriLok today, and already am pleased with it. It is very comfortable and supportive. I feel less pain already. Unfortunately, due to the damage caused by two foot surgeries, I should have ordered a large, instead of a medium. The length is fine, the width is not. If your foot is wide, consider a larger size. Also, the Velcro straps have pluses and minuses. Plus, very adjustable. You can use the TriLok on either the left or right foot, you can strap it to keep your foot from rollng inward or outward. Minus, they are a bear to put on. My husband, an engineer, could not figure it out from the diagrams on the package. I watched a Youtube video several times, make sure you watch the one for left or right, medial or lateral, whatever configuration you need. I may change the rating to a five, right now I am grumpy because all the Velcro patches keep sticking to each other.

Okay, price-wise, I thought WOW, it's costly! BUT I bought a cheaper type of wrap that just didn't do it. It was the kind that's all over Amazon. The one that comes with a compression sock and a strap. I think that type is okay for small aches and pains or just for some extra support. But this... This brace is AMAZING. Literally, from one day to the next, the burning aching pain I felt in my achilles tendon (I developed achilles tendonitis) was gone. Lessened to an ever so slight dull feeling that doesn't do anything but feel like a tiny little bother and only on occasion. I'm serious. I'm floored at how well this brace worked SO fast! Also, I have been doing exercises (go to Youtube and look up achilles tendonitis if that's what you've got) and wear this brace! It's TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY! It's a complete system of support. I had to watch the video the first time I wore it, but after that, it takes a second to put it on. LOTS of support!!! And it's thin, grabs onto your foot so it's not sliding around. I don't know it's there except I can feel the grip it's got, but in a good way. It feels supportive. It isn't bulky at all. I wear it with my sneakers and my boots. I also would recommend you get the shoes from Hoka. They are expensive but if you've got foot issues, they grip your feet in place and also add support. The combo of this brace and those shoes and I'm golden. My feet are awesome again! RECOMMENDED HIGHLY!!!!

This is an extremely convoluted and unsupportive brace. First, the size chart is way off. I measured my foot and ordered the small brace as indicated on the chart. The sleeve you put your foot through is so tight I cannot wear a sock with it and it's on the verge of cutting off my circulation. The Medium brace is too large even with a sock on and bunches up around my ankle and heel. Second, there are multiple straps/parts that all start getting stuck to eachother as you are trying to follow the ridiculous tutorial video. Third, no matter how much I tried adjusting the white "foot lock" strap, it would buckle under the weight of my foot and provided literally no support whatsoever. This flimsy white strap that's as thin as a piece of paper is really the only thing attempting to hold your foot in place. The rest of the straps don't really do much of anything. Can't believe how expensive this brace is considering how flimsy it's made.

EDIT/UPDATE: I think this brace is still 5 star support. I am 3.5 months into healing from Stage 1 PTTD, and my doc recommends that I wear a brace in my shoe w/ custom orthotics to alleviate pain when I am doing lots of walking. I stand up a good bit of the day, so I put this on as a precaution and it helps a ton. The problem is, it's just so bulky in my shoe. I have tailor's bunions which get irritated even in my Brooks Ariels (8.5 W) with ample toe room. As a result, I get foot pain on the other side of my foot. BUT, my PTTD symptoms are greatly relieved, and the pain I get in my other foot (tibial tendon as well) goes away when I wear this brace. It is definitely doing its job, but I am looking again at braces that have less bulk for my problem feet. I also must praise the velcro, which stays in place for hours on end. (It's VERY strong velcro - a pain to get stuck to other things you care about, but well-made stuff.) ORIGINAL REVIEW: Wore an Airlift PTTD Aircast, only to have 3 casts in 3 weeks deflate. Sometimes it was hard to tell whether the Aircast was working and as a result my foot would hurt due to it not being inflated enough. I got the Bioskin in L and M sizes, and M is actually a better fit. I am a size 8 and able to squeeze in a size 8 shoe with this cast on, though 8.5 would be better. It feels a little snug in my shoe and around my foot, but I think my shoe will adjust and it's better than wearing the medical shoe I've been wearing for weeks with the Aircast! It is nice to adjust this to my liking rather than rely on an air pump to inflate an air bladder I can't see. I thought the M would be too small at first, but when you get up to a L it fits less tightly around the foot (for me that was helpful) BUT there is more strap length to contend with. I am 5'1" and do have muscular calves but there was too much "cast" for me. I hope this is helpful!

I have Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD). This brace adapts to either foot and can be adapted for several issues. The video instructions are very clear. Even though the brace consists of one main ‘sock’ and 2 straps, once you see how to do up the straps for your particular issue, it is very quick and easy. My tendon is still healing, and there are times when the brace feels sooo good, and times when I suddenly get the burning sensation that tells me to stop doing whatever I’m doing. Some times all I have to do is loosen the heel strap to alleviate the burning. At other times, I have to remove the brace completely, give my ankle a rest, then put the brace back on. The Orthopedic Surgeon tells me this is all totally normal during the lengthy healing process. One piece of very good advice a nurse friend gave me is to wear compression socks. I now live in these socks along with the brace. The brace can be worn with some of my normal footwear (like my garden shoes and soft slip-ons). I cannot wear any of my short boots or dressier flats with the brace, however. As for negatives, I do have two quibbles with this brace: one is the seam which runs down the center of the arch on the sock portion - Now that I am able to be on my feet longer, I am noticing this seam really causing some discomfort (today it was outright pain) after a while. Why on earth would the manufacturer think running a thick seam in this area is a good idea? My second issue is with the strap which wraps around the instep. The brace and heel strap are black. This instep strap is white. Again, why would someone think this is a good idea? It is not necessary in order to distinguish one strap from the other as they are two totally different shapes. The white strap immediately becomes stained from the inside of footwear, plus it becomes dirty really quickly. I have to rub a bar of soap onto both sides of the strap, then work the soap into the fabric, then rinse, and it’s still grungy looking. Other than these two irritants, I do feel this brace helps tremendously. It has held up very well with daily use for several months now, and I am very glad I have it.

I bought this for a 5th metatarsal stress fracture. It helps but I must admit it's a pain to put on and take off. It took me a good 3-4 times putting it on and taking it off before I figured it out.

I was “prescribed” this brace from my podiatrist. I paid almost $200 after insurance. Used it for a year and it was pretty worn out so I found this. This is the exact same brace I was prescribed for my PTTD. And much better pricing! It offers me decent support (as much as can be expected with my condition) without being too bulky. I don’t have to size up my shoes at all.

Great for my ankle. Allows me to work without terrible pain or wearing a boot. Takes a little bit to get used to the steps, but easy-peasy once you get it. Man thing is it works very well. This is the 2nd one I bought. Just so I can switch out to clean them up a bit. Way less expensive than the one I got at the doctor's office.
