Just received my unit today and I'm already returning it. The programming part went smoothly. But whether using the key, the keypad, or the biometric fingerprint, the door will not open every time. That's bad when you're in crisis mode and getting access to you weapon is a must.

Very easy to mount and setup. Put it in a pantry in our kitchen area where space is lacking for a typical gun case. Like that it has the option for a code, but biometric/fingerprint function is nice as well. Mounting using the top plate seems secure, although does have a little wiggle to it. Build quality feels legit as well. The finger print reader is probably the only thing "lacking" but for a $100 safe, it's a nice alternative to the coded entry. Overall, very happy with the purchase and love having another solution to have a firearm stored securely around my home.

While the mounting of the attachment bracket was easy enough inspite of my age, (which did make it a bit more difficult than in my junior years), the hardest part was putting the thumbscrew through the safe wall... into the bracket, getting the holes lined up in the blind was a major challenge. The third photo shows the screw I am referring to. The moungin bracket guides do a great job of securing the safe to the mount, but the screw hole alingnment is a hit or miss affair.

I bought this particular unit as it looked the same as the others but at a better price. Unfortunately, the quality control is poor. The hinge was extremely tight on this unit, preventing it from fully opening as it should. Considering this unit is supposed to work properly when your life could be on the line, there's no excuse for something like this to leave the factory not working properly. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised considering the country of manufacture. By working the hinge for a half hour straight and lubricating the pivot points, I got the unit to work properly for now but who knows long term how it will perform. Also, the mounting bracket is very wiggly and didn't have enough holes to mount it properly for my application, so I had to drill my own holes. The bracket needs a redesign. If these problems were taken care of, it would have been a 5 star, but because I received it the way it was, 3 stars was the best I could do. I would not buy this brand again because I do not consider it reliable enough when my safety is at stake.

The media could not be loaded. I would prefer if I could leave my unit out and readily accessible if necessary. But I have animals, a teenager, young family members etc. This safe is by no means sturdy enough to not be stolen and broken into but its perfect for my application. I have a probably circa 2010 Springfield xdm 9 compact and it fits perfectly. Set up was so easy.
