  • Stains EVERYTHING. Be careful.
Color: Saffron Red
I have naturally strawberry blonde hair that’s gotten duller as I’ve aged. I got the poppy colored balm as a gift and thought it would be like other “color enhancing conditioners” that don’t do much. It’s NOT. This stuff stained my hands and my plastic bathtub, and turned my hair a punk pink. I washed it with dawn as I read this helps remove color mistakes, but it really didn’t help. I was horrified. However, after a day I got used to looking kinda punk and after a month it faded out so I decided to get the right color for my hair and do it again. Once you know what you’re working with, it’s actually a pretty fun product. But don’t treat it like the usual tinted conditioner that you just use in the shower without thinking. This is strong stuff. Use gloves, protect surfaces, test it on your hair to see how you like the color before going full strength all over, dilute with normal conditioner, etc. Now that I know what I’m doing, I actually use the poppy colored balm to put pink streaks in the bottom lengths of my hair sometimes. I think it makes the strawberry/copper tones pop in a fun way. Turns out I like looking a little bit punk. ... show more

  • Unnatural color
Color: Red Poppy
In terms of coloring my hair and sticking around…4-5 stars. However, 0 stars for color. Yikes! I was trying to brighten up my medium brown/auburn hair and unfortunately the poppy red, it is a very unnatural color. The lighter strands of my hair turned a weird pinkish and my darker strands are deep merlot. Overall…it looks like I got a really bad boxed dye job. I had MUCH better luck with Overtone ginger and wish I hadn’t wasted money on this experiment. It also dried my hair out which I did not expect. The picture posted is my hair after 3 washes and a conditioning treatment…the color is still hanging around..so maybe if the other red is more natural and gingery …. It might work. Idk…probably sticking with overtone bc I know it works. ... show more

  • This Actually Works!
Color: Saffron Red
As a true auburn haired red head I struggle with losing my coloring as I get older. I refuse to dye my hair because I don’t want to damage it. But I’m slowly getting lighter and lighter like all redheads. I’ve tried a lot of color shampoos and conditioners. They rarely deposit any color or if they do it washes out immediately after getting all over your pillow. This stuff works. Holy cow. Perhaps a bit too much. Lol. I wish they had a true auburn color but I used the saffron one and it added that pop of ginger back in. In some places it was almost too orange. But it washes out slowly and nicely. Not all at once. I use this every other week to just add a touch of color back in, like turning up my red. If you dye your hair this will keep it red in between for sure. Make sure you use gloves. I even used it on my eyebrows and it worked, which we all know eyebrows never work with color depositing shampoos ever. My only complaint is that they don’t have more colors!!! Also leaves your hair so soft and beautiful. But be prepared it dyes everything. So use an old towel and wash immediately. Wipe down your shower really well after as well. ... show more

  • Wear gloves!
Color: Cinnamon
It definitely freshened up my color. I bought the cinnamon color. Did not color all my gray roots, but expected that. Works great as a boost between salon visits. But Definitely use gloves and use carefully if you have a white bathroom! It works, but it stains.

  • I can finally leave my hair alone!
Color: Chai Tea
Let me start off by saying that my hair has been through a JOURNEY. I was recreationally highlighting my hair every couple of months until I decided I wanted to be BLONDER. I made the terrible mistake of using a box blonde dye kit all over my hair. Unfortunately, the parts that weren't highlighted turned ORANGE. Despite my best efforts of using more blonde dye kits and multiple bottles of blue and purple shampoo and silver and platinum klenditioner, I just could not get the brassiness out of my hair. My strands had uneven porosity due to the highlights, so they would soak up the blue, purple, silver shampoo/conditioner. I'd have blue/purple streaks over orange hair. It was terrible. To make matters worse, I am allergic to darker hair dyes (also T18 which I learned the hard way, and it didn't fix my orange problem either). I eventually had to bite the bullet and just bleach all of my hair. It took 4 packets. I ended up with intense yellow hair. I decided I was done with purple/blue shampoo and wanted to try a blonde colored conditioner. I also wanted to darken the hair a little without using hair dye. I stumbled across Chai Tea Biolage. You would think the color was more of a creamy coffee color but it administers more of a rose gold/champagne color. I don't hate it and it really cooled down the orange/yellow tones in my hair due to the violet and blue notes in it. This conditioner isn't perfect. If it had less pink in it, it would be great, but I have atleast reached a level of satisfaction in my hair. I can have a life again! The first photo is right after bleaching, the second is after using the Biolage Chai Tea. I kept it in my dry hair for 30 minutes, rinsed and straightened it. ... show more
