Box was delivered during a thunder storm and pretty much destroyed due to the rain (jacks had some scratches) wish I don't care this doesn't affect the integrity of the jack. I've been turning wrenches for almost 3 decades and these are one of the very few jackstands that are worth more than the market price. I bought them because of the load rating AND height capability (necessary when working on pick-ups and SUVs). I'm concerned about safety as much as the next guy, but I do not fear being under a vehicle with these jackstands supporting it! The best jackstands I've used were the military models that would support a HET with no problem and they didn't have the "double-locking" feature that some are concerned about here. I've never seen a jackstand fail, but then again, but I have seen vehicles fall off jackstands because the person didn't pay much thought to where he placed the jackstands. I make damn sure to account for the load I'm placing on them, then properly place the jackstands under locations of known support (i.e. axle, front control arms, frame, etc.) before I crawl under a vehicle. If the vehicle rocks or moves in any direction (except up & down), then consider relocating the jackstands. Make sure the vehicle sits in / on the saddle (not across it) and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS make sure all 4 feet of the jackstand on flat on the floor; simple! For the price of $32 for a pair of 6-ton stands (from a reputable manufacturer), these are very good stands and if you continue being safety-conscious, you'll be fine. Personally, I don't think a shear-pin is much added insurance, given the $11+ marginal cost. That does not mean the more expensive double-locking model isn't any better, but I'm fine with this model. In fact, I bought 3 more pairs of these today :) I tend to have a project car always on stands in my shop and the other two pairs are for quick repairs or maintenance. ... show more
